Our private tour of Tuol Sleng Prison and Cheong Ek Memorial was both hugely interesting and hugely sobering and made more so by the fact thatvour guide was a survivor of the Khmer Rouge era whi had lost a number of family members during that time. The personal anecdotes made it even more real and being able to chat with a 93 year old survivor of Tuol Sleng prison was very poignant. This tour is highly recommended for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime.
I can not recommend this tour enough. The service was excellent and the guide told stories that no book can tell and made sure you understand the places you are seeing without any rush. if you just have one day in Phnom Penh, make sure you make this tour!
This tour is incredibly sad but not to be missed. We really enjoyed our time with Channuk, he is a survivor and graciously shared many personal family stories with us. He went above and beyond by teaching us common Khmer words and phrases. The van transportation had great AC and the cold water and cold towels were a nice bonus. If you’re going to visit S-21 and the killing fields, you should definitely choose this tour!
Channak was an excellent guide . He was early to pick me up at my hotel and patient while I came to the lobby . His first hand family experience and knowledge of Cambodias history was fascinating and extremely sad. On entering the site of The Killing fields, Channak and I sat away from everyone else and he educated me further on the history of Cambodia and what led to the Khmer Rouge taking over . I could see other tours going in and out while we talked . This extra knowledge and history really made a difference to understanding the past and how things are repeated to this day across the world
My guide Seng Sophal was excellent! He speaks so good english and explained to me everything so clear and brilliant. He shared with me his history and how it was for him living during the time from 1975-1979. I can't recommend this tour with him more! Thank you so much, Seng! Wishing you all the best!
Channak is an experienced guide and extremely informative when sharing details about the sad history of Cambodia. He was gracious to share his family’s personal story, and was generous to take us to spots that are not part of the tour. Will highly recommend Channak and this tour to anyone visiting Phnom Penh!
Sok Channak was the perfect Guide! We really enjoyed our tour with him. He experienced the dark times of Cambodia at first hand and could tell us all about it. It was a real life history lesson and I learned so much. He also answered all our questions and showed us a really nice restaurant in the end. Our driver was also really nice and provided us always with towels and water. I would definitely recommend to do this tour. Thank you
This tour was very good. I saw and learned a lot. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. The tour was very eye opening. I highly recommend it.
This tour and my guide was amazing. I would highly recommend this tour to other travelers.
The tour was great. Channak, the guide, explained very well the history and politics of Cambodia, giving also a personal context to the places we visited. very recommended
Guide full of knowledge, but can be a bit hard to understand his English in noizy environments, easier when you get used to it.
Very knowledgeable and efficient.
