Booking the guide-and-car option was the best decision of our Rajasthan trip. Our guide met us right at the hotel and the City Palace tour was fascinating, he knew every courtyard and mirror room. Having the air-conditioned car in July heat between the palace and the lake was a lifesaver. Twelve hours flew by and we never felt rushed once.

A genuinely private day, just my wife and me with an excellent official guide. He explained the history of the Mewar rulers at the City Palace in real depth and then found us a rooftop restaurant with a perfect Lake Pichola view for lunch. He also helped us buy monument tickets quickly so we skipped the queues. Superb value for twenty dollars plus the car.

Really enjoyable full day and our guide was warm and knowledgeable. My only note is the entry tickets are not included, so we spent more than expected once you add the City Palace and camera fees on top. Worth knowing beforehand. That aside, the palace was stunning and having a private guide made the crowded old city lanes easy to navigate.

We took the guide-only option since we were happy to walk and use rickshaws, and it worked out brilliantly for two dollars short of nothing, honestly. The guide tailored the whole day to what we wanted, more temples and markets and a bit less palace. He was patient with our kids and pointed out the best photo spots along Pichola. Highly recommend.

Did this in January and the weather was perfect for walking the old city. Our guide picked us up bang on time and spent the whole twelve hours making sure we understood what we were seeing rather than just ticking off sights. The City Palace interiors were the highlight. He also steered us away from a couple of pushy touts in the market, which we were grateful for.

Lovely private tour with a friendly, well-informed guide. It is a long day at twelve hours and by late afternoon we were flagging a little in the heat, so I would suggest an early start like they recommend. The City Palace and lake views more than made up for it. Just wear proper shoes, there are plenty of stairs and uneven lanes.
