Kintamani est la crete sur le bord de la caldeira du Batur, a environ 1 500 metres, et le point de vue de Penelokan surplombe le volcan, le champ de lave de l'eruption de 1968 et le lac Batur. Il fait assez frais pour une veste. Penglipuran, a Bangli sur la route qui monte, est un village traditionnel aux ruelles pavees de pierre et aux enclos a toit de bambou, dont l'agencement est maintenu selon des regles villageoises, avec une foret de bambous derriere. Les plantations de cafe le long de cette route proposent des degustations d'arabica et de robusta locaux ainsi que le kopi luwak traite par les civettes; les degustations sont gratuites avec l'attente d'un achat, et les civettes en cage de certaines d'entre elles valent la peine d'etre questionnees avant d'acheter.

The tour had exactly what I wanted to see, the Tegalalang rice terrace, a coffee plantage and the mountain/vulcano overview. I could take all the time I needed and didn't feel rushed at all. Not only did I see all the beautiful landscapes, I also learned a lot about Bali, the culture/traditions and its people. The driver was very knowledgable and I could ask him anything. There was some time left after we saw everything and I could even make suggestions to go to other places I wanted to see. So we also went to Ubud Palace and the market. I had a lovely day! Would really recommend this tour.

It was a great and very diverse tour. The Rice fields were gorgeous, and the view of the vulcano was truly amazing especially as I could enjoy it while having a great lunch. My driver/guide Mr Pancha was a sweetheart, a true gentlemen and very knowledgeable. Can highly recommend the tour!

The climb is a steady two hours on loose volcanic ground with a steep final section, fine for average fitness in closed shoes. The trek is guided-only through the village association and that fee is included in the price.
