Bentota se trouve a environ quatre-vingt-dix minutes au sud de Colombo, ou la Bentota Ganga rejoint la mer derriere un long banc de sable, et c’est la cote des spas de l’ile depuis l’ouverture des premiers complexes dans les annees 1970. Ce voyage associe les deux choses que la ville fait le mieux et vous ramene le meme jour.

Le massage dure deux heures completes, ce qui est assez long pour que le traitement soit le vrai article plutot qu’une version abregee d’hotel. L’Ayurveda sri-lankaise utilise des huiles d’herbes tiedes appliquees en longs mouvements le long des lignes d’energie du corps, suivies dans la plupart des cas d’un bain de vapeur ou d’herbes. Les praticiens ici sont generalement formes dans le systeme plutot qu’en technique de spa generale, et la pression est plus ferme qu’un massage de relaxation occidental. Vous partirez huile, planifiez donc vos vetements en consequence.

L’heure sur la riviere suit. La Bentota Ganga remonte vers l’interieur a travers des peuplements de mangrove assez denses pour que le bateau s’engage dans des canaux etroits ou les branches se referment au-dessus. Les varans se chauffent sur les berges, les martins-pecheurs travaillent les hauts-fonds, les macaques se deplacent dans la canopee, et par bonne chance vous verrez un ilot de mangrove cerne de nasses a poissons. C’est une heure calme plutot que palpitante, ce qui est la bonne note apres deux heures a plat ventre sur une table de traitement.

Le transport est prive dans les deux sens et le trajet le long de la cote est confortable sur l’autoroute. La journee totale est d’environ six heures de porte a porte, dont trois de trajet, elle s’integre donc bien dans une matinee ou une apres-midi sans manger une journee entiere de votre voyage.

Cela convient aux voyageurs qui ont beaucoup bouge dans le triangle culturel ou les collines et veulent une journee qui ne necessite pas un reveil tot ou une longue marche.
