Colombo fait la plupart de sa vie sociale apres la tombee de la nuit, en partie parce que la chaleur du jour decourage toute autre chose. La vie nocturne est cependant dispersee, repartie entre Fort, Colombo 3 et Colombo 7, et se deplacer seul entre les lieux signifie negocier les tarifs dans l’obscurite avec des chauffeurs qui ne savent pas ou vous voulez aller. Ce tour resout cela en vous associant a un guide et un tuk-tuk pour la soiree.

Le point de rencontre est l’ancien hopital hollandais de Fort, qui est le bon endroit pour commencer. Le batiment est le plus ancien du quartier, amenage autour de cours par les Hollandais au dix-septieme siecle, et sa restauration en a fait une cour de restaurants et de bars qui se remplit tot. Ministry of Crab, le restaurant qui a rendu le crabe de lagon sri-lankais mondialement connu, se trouve dans le meme complexe.

De la, vous vous deplacez en tuk-tuk. La soiree est faiblement structuree plutot que fixe : votre guide lit ce que vous voulez, et l’itineraire entre bars, toits-terrasses et nourriture nocturne change selon le jour de la semaine, car Colombo est bien plus calme en debut de semaine et plus animee a partir de jeudi. Dites a votre guide au depart si vous voulez des cocktails et des toits-terrasses, ou de la biere et de la street food, et l’itineraire suit cela.

Le tuk-tuk fait partie de l’experience plutot que d’etre juste un transport. Rouler a travers Fort la nuit, passant devant les portes du port et la Tour du Lotus illuminee, avec l’air de la mer entrant par les cotes ouverts, est une ville differente de celle que vous avez vue a midi. Les distances sont courtes et les trajets entre les lieux durent generalement cinq a quinze minutes.

Une note pratique : l’alcool n’est pas servi les jours de pleine lune de Poya n’importe ou a Sri Lanka, et de nombreux bars ferment entierement. Si votre date tombe un jour de Poya, la soiree devient plutot un tour de nourriture et de lumieres de la ville. Votre guide confirmera cela a la reservation.
