Description complète

I had a wonderful Colombo city tour today with my guide, Naveen. He was extremely friendly, kind, and genuinely caring throughout the whole trip. Naveen explained every attraction in great detail, helped me understand the culture and history of Sri Lanka, and always made sure I felt comfortable as a solo female traveler. At the end of the tour, he even treated me to a lovely lunch, which was such a warm and thoughtful gesture. He also gave me very helpful advice about traveling around Sri Lanka — what to do, what to avoid, and how to stay safe while exploring the country. I’m truly grateful for his guidance and hospitality. If you’re visiting Colombo, I highly recommend booking a tour with Naveen. He will make your experience memorable and meaningful!

Danush and his colleague tried very hard to give us as many impressions of Colombo as possible in the short time we had. From historical events and the history of Colombo to current challenges and problems in the city, we were given exciting content that convinced us to visit Sri Lanka again. The tour in a tuk-tuk was very fun and highly recommended in this city!

The price does not cover entrance and camera fees where charged, food and drinks, souvenir purchases, gratuities, personal expenses.. Everything it does cover is listed in full on this page, so if something is not on that list, budget for it separately.
Unless the option says private, this runs as a small group. The operator caps it rather than filling a coach, and if you want it to yourselves the private option is priced separately on this page.
Apple Vacations Sri Lanka and Maldives. We book with them directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can confirm your place with the operator before taking it as final.
We confirm your booking with the operator before we treat it as final, and we need at least one day's notice outside India. December to March is the driest stretch. Colombo sits on the west coast, so it gets the southwest monsoon roughly May to September — the northeast monsoon (October to January) hits the *other* side of the island instead. Any guide describing one national "rainy season" is only describing half the country. Full breakdown in our best time to visit Colombo guide.
Tuk-tuks are everywhere — insist on the meter or agree the fare first. PickMe is the local ride-hailing app and usually cheaper than flagging one down, with no fare argument. The coastal railway south toward Galle runs along the sea and costs very little. See getting around Colombo.
Rice and curry is the everyday meal, not a dish — rice with several curries and sambols. Kottu roti is chopped roti cooked with a distinctive clanging rhythm on the griddle, hoppers are bowl-shaped fermented rice-flour pancakes, and lamprais is the Dutch Burgher dish baked in a banana leaf. See the Colombo food guide.
Pettah is the market district east of Fort, and its streets are organised by trade — one for electronics, one for textiles, one for hardware, one for spices. The candy-striped Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar, 1908) is the landmark. Street-by-street in our Pettah market guide.
Galle is the easiest — about 2 hours on the southern expressway. Kandy is only 115 km but 3-4 hours each way on a mountain road. Sigiriya is realistically a 12-14 hour day and is better as an overnight. Honest distances in our day trips from Colombo guide.
Two days covers it comfortably. Colombo is not a museum city and most travellers pass through on the way somewhere else — our Colombo 2-day itinerary sets out a realistic pair of days.
