Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Transfer to Upper Svaneti
Meet in central Tbilisi for an early-morning departure, or use the confirmed private pickup arrangement. Travel west across Georgia and then north toward Upper Svaneti, with practical comfort breaks and a scenic stop at Enguri Dam. The road becomes increasingly dramatic as it follows the Enguri gorge into the mountains. Arrive in Mestia in the late afternoon or early evening, check into your guesthouse for three consecutive nights and enjoy the evening at your own pace.
Chaaladi Clacier
After breakfast, meet your local Svan guide and explore the established Chalaadi Glacier trail for approximately 3 km return, usually 3 hours, with up to about 120 m of cumulative ascent. The route runs through forest and along the river and turns back before the exposed glacier forefield.
Mestia Neighborhoods
After lunch explore Mestia’s tower neighbourhoods on foot. Learn how the towers, family homes, defence traditions and present-day community fit together.
Margiani House Museum
visit the Margiani House Museum to step inside a traditional Svan home-and-tower complex, with standard admission included in the tour.
Ushguli 4WD drive
Eat an early breakfast and travel from Mestia to Ushguli by local 4WD after the daily road check.
Ushguli
Explore this highland settlement with your Svan guide at a measured pace among towers, homes, lanes and high-mountain scenery.
home-style lunch
Sit down for an included home-style lunch in a local guesthouse, with time to experience regional food in the place where it belongs. Continue your village and landscape time before returning to Mestia
Transfer back to Mestia
Return to Mestia on the same 4WD van.
long road back to Tbilisi
After breakfast, check out and begin the long road back to Tbilisi. Stop for comfort and a guest-paid snack or lunch along the way. Arrival is expected in the evening, depending on traffic, stops and mountain-road conditions. Plan an overnight in Tbilisi after the tour or book a same-day flight only when the connection has been specifically confirmed as realistic.
