Junagarh Fort completely surprised me. Because it isn't perched on a hill you walk straight into these gorgeous painted chambers and carved balconies, and our guide knew every detail about the 1593 construction. The private car was blissfully cool between stops. The Rat Temple afterwards was surreal in the best way. A brilliantly balanced day of history and the truly unusual.
We booked this as a one-way sightseeing transfer toward Jaisalmer and it worked perfectly. The driver was punctual, the AC car spotless, and we never felt rushed at either stop. The Prachina Museum inside the fort was a highlight for me with its old royal costumes and weapons. Excellent value at sixty dollars considering fuel, tolls and a proper guide were all covered.
Visiting Karni Mata was on my bucket list and this tour made it easy. The guide explained the temple etiquette before we went in, so removing shoes and walking barefoot among the rats felt manageable rather than scary. We even spotted one of the lucky white rats. Junagarh Fort earlier in the day was equally memorable. Warm, knowledgeable service throughout.
A genuinely fascinating day, though be ready for an early start and a fair bit of heat at the fort courtyards. The Rat Temple is not for the faint-hearted and walking in socks near so many rats took me a moment to adjust to. Our guide was patient and the car comfortable. Just bring cash for the entry tickets, which aren't included in the price.
Loved having a private car and guide just for the two of us. We lingered far longer at Junagarh than a group tour would allow, poking into the decorated palaces and quiet courtyards. Karni Mata was extraordinary and strangely peaceful. The driver suggested a fantastic little spot for Bikaneri snacks at lunch. Ten hours flew by and felt wonderfully unhurried.
The contrast between the two sites is what makes this tour special. Junagarh is a masterpiece of Rajput and Mughal design, all intricate stonework and colour, while the Rat Temple is unlike anything in Europe. Our guide bridged the two worlds beautifully and answered every question. The cool car was a relief in the desert climate. Highly recommended for curious travellers.
We travelled with my parents and the flat approach to Junagarh Fort meant no steep climbing, which they appreciated. My mother chose to view the Rat Temple from the entrance while the rest of us went inside, and the guide was completely accommodating. The whole day felt personal and relaxed. Booking was simple and our hotel pickup in Bikaner was right on time.
Solid tour with a knowledgeable guide and a clean, air-conditioned vehicle. My only caveat is that the onward drive toward Jaisalmer is long, so the day is more of a heritage transfer than a leisurely loop, and by late afternoon we were tired. Still, seeing Junagarh Fort and Karni Mata in one go is efficient and worthwhile. Just plan the timing and start early.
