Our guide made Mehrangarh Fort come alive. He knew the history of every courtyard and palace room, and pointed out the handprints at the gate that I would have walked straight past. Having a private car meant we set our own pace and never felt rushed through the museum. Easily the best day of our Rajasthan trip.

We started early to beat the heat and it was the right call. By the time we reached the fort ramparts the whole Blue City was spread out below us, and later the guide took us to a rooftop for the golden-hour view. The lassi and samosa stop was a lovely touch. Driver was punctual and the AC car was spotless.

A really good tour with a knowledgeable guide who clearly loves his city. My only honest note is that Mehrangarh involves a steep climb and it was very hot in the afternoon, so wear proper shoes and start early. The umbrellas helped. Jaswant Thada and the blue lanes were the highlight for me. Worth it overall.

Excellent value for a fully private day. The air-conditioned car covered Mehrangarh, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan and Mandore Gardens without any hassle, and we could linger wherever we liked. Our guide adjusted the plan when we wanted extra time in the old town near the Clock Tower. Booking was simple and the confirmation came through quickly.

Traveling with my parents, I was worried about the fort steps, but the guide showed us the lift and paced everything perfectly. He was patient, warm and full of stories about Jodhpur's royal history. The Blue City walk through the indigo lanes was magical, and the vegetarian food recommendations near Sardar Market were spot on.

We took the option with entry tickets included and it made the day effortless, no queuing for cash or tickets at each site. Mehrangarh is genuinely one of the most impressive forts I have seen, and our guide's commentary added so much context. Loved the winding walk through the Blue City afterwards. Highly recommend the private format.

Beautiful sights and a friendly, well-informed guide. Honestly the fort was quite crowded by late morning and a couple of the later stops at Mandore felt a little rushed near the end of the eight hours. That said, Jaswant Thada was peaceful and the views over the city were unforgettable. Good tour, just start as early as they offer.

From pickup at our haveli to drop-off, everything ran smoothly. The guide was fantastic on the details of Umaid Bhawan and the fort's cannons, and he found us the best photo spots over the blue rooftops. Having water and an umbrella provided in the heat was thoughtful. A relaxed, private day that we would happily book again.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a full 8-hour private tour that packs in Jodhpur's headline sights: the towering Mehrangarh Fort, the marble memorial of Jaswant Thada, the winding lanes of the Old Blue City, the grand Umaid Bhawan and the historic Mandore Gardens. You'll also stop at Kunj Bihari Temple and the Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower). Because it's private, your guide can adjust the pace and linger longer wherever you're most interested.
It depends on the option you choose. The Tour with Entry Tickets at $350 covers your admission fees, while the Tour without Entry Tickets at $250 leaves you to pay entries directly on the day. The Private Tour with Approved Guide at $92 includes tickets only if that option is selected at checkout. If you'd rather not worry about carrying cash for tickets at each site, the all-inclusive option is the smoothest choice.
Yes. Pickup and drop-off across Jodhpur is included in every option, in a comfortable air-conditioned car. Just share your hotel or guesthouse name and address when you book, and your driver will collect you at the agreed time. If you're staying in one of the heritage havelis inside the Blue City where cars can't reach the door, your guide will arrange the nearest convenient meeting point.
There's a fair amount of walking, especially inside Mehrangarh Fort, which sits high on a rocky hill and involves steep ramps and some stairs to reach the palace courtyards. The Blue City portion covers narrow, uneven, sometimes sloping lanes. There is a lift inside Mehrangarh that your guide can point you to if the ramps are tough. Comfortable closed shoes make a real difference here.
Yes, with a little planning. Because it's private, your guide sets a pace that suits your group and can build in rest stops. Older travelers should know Mehrangarh has steep sections, though the internal lift helps with the biggest climb. Children usually enjoy the fort's cannons, ramparts and Blue City lanes. If mobility is a real concern and you'd prefer a gentler, mostly on-foot experience, the Blue City walking tour by a local guide is a calmer alternative.
An earlier start is ideal so you tackle Mehrangarh Fort before the midday heat and the biggest crowds. Many travelers love ending the day around the Blue City and rooftop viewpoints as the light turns golden and the indigo houses glow. Since it's a private tour, you can agree your start time with the guide when you book, based on the season and how early you like to move.
Jodhpur can be genuinely hot, particularly from April to June when afternoons soar well above comfortable. Wear light, breathable clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and use sunscreen. The tour includes water bottles and umbrellas for shade, which helps a lot on the exposed fort ramparts. For temple visits like Kunj Bihari, having shoulders and knees loosely covered is respectful and easy with a light scarf.
The most comfortable window is roughly October to March, when days are pleasant and evenings cool. This tour runs year-round, but if you're visiting in the peak summer months, an early start and the included umbrellas make a big difference. Winter mornings can be crisp, so a light layer is handy for the drive out to Mandore Gardens.
It is fully private. The air-conditioned car, driver and approved guide are dedicated to your group alone, so there's no waiting on other travelers and no fixed itinerary rigidity. You can slow down for photos, spend extra time at Mehrangarh's museum galleries, or trim a stop you're less interested in. If you specifically want a shared, more budget-friendly format, the Blue City tour with car and professional guide is worth comparing.
Absolutely, this is one of the most photogenic days in Rajasthan. Mehrangarh's ramparts give sweeping views over the sea of blue houses, Jaswant Thada's white marble glows against the sky, and the Blue City lanes are full of doorways, colour and daily life. Your guide knows the best rooftop and hillside vantage points for that classic Blue City shot. Note that some museum interiors inside the fort may charge a small camera fee or restrict photography.
The tour includes a local lassi and samosa snack plus water bottles to keep you going. Full meals aren't included, but your guide is happy to recommend authentic spots near Sardar Market or the Clock Tower, from Jodhpur's famous mirchi vada to sweet makhaniya lassi. Vegetarian food is everywhere in Jodhpur and easy to arrange, and you can flag any dietary needs to your guide on the day.
Every option includes pickup and drop-off across Jodhpur, an air-conditioned car, an approved tour guide, water bottles and umbrellas for shade. A lassi and samosa snack is provided too. Entry tickets are included only on the entry-ticket option, so choose the Tour with Entry Tickets at $350 if you want everything bundled with nothing extra to pay at each site.
The Private Tour with Approved Guide at $92 is the guide-led base experience. The Tour without Entry Tickets at $250 provides the full private setup but leaves site admissions for you to pay directly. The Tour with Entry Tickets at $350 is the all-in choice, bundling your entries so there's nothing to sort out on the day. Pick based on how many paid sites you plan to enter and whether you prefer everything prepaid.
Book online by choosing your preferred option and date, then share your hotel name, pickup time and group size. You'll receive a confirmation with your meeting details, and the guide will typically reconfirm the pickup time ahead of the day. If you're deciding between formats, you can also look at the private Blue City exploration of Jodhpur for a more fort-and-lanes focused itinerary.
Most bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund, though the exact terms shown at checkout apply to your booking. Because this is a private tour with a dedicated guide and car, we do ask that you let us know as early as possible if your plans change. Late cancellations within the cutoff window are typically non-refundable.
Yes, Jodhpur pairs beautifully with more time. Many travelers add a night in the dunes via the Thar Desert camel and jeep safari tour for sunset over the sand, or dig deeper into local flavours and hidden corners on the hidden lanes and local flavors tour. Let your guide know if you'd like recommendations for a second day and they'll happily help you plan.
