We were picked up right on time from our Agra hotel and the whole day just flowed. Our guide explained the story of Krishna's birthplace at Janmabhoomi so vividly that it stayed with us. The air-conditioned car was a blessing in July, and having cold water waiting for us after every temple made a real difference. Genuinely one of the highlights of our India trip.

Very well organised private trip from Agra. The drive is about ninety minutes each way, which gave our guide plenty of time to prepare us for what we'd see. Banke Bihari was packed but he knew exactly how to move us through and where we couldn't take photos. ISKCON at Vrindavan was serene and beautiful. Excellent value for a fully private car and driver.

Did this with my parents who are in their seventies and it worked perfectly. The car dropped us close to each temple so the walking was manageable, and the guide kept a gentle pace. Mum loved the peda shop he took us to in Mathura. Removing shoes at every shrine takes a moment but it's all part of it. Warm, respectful and unhurried.

A really rewarding day, though be ready for a lot of time in the car since it's a round trip from Agra. The temples themselves were wonderful and our guide was patient with all my questions about Krishna. Vrindavan's lanes get crowded and there were a few pushy vendors, but he handled them well. Just start early to make the most of it.

December was the perfect time for this — comfortable weather and softer crowds at the temples. What I appreciated most was the flexibility of a private tour; we lingered at ISKCON far longer than planned and nobody rushed us. The guide's knowledge of the local traditions turned a sightseeing trip into something quite moving. Toll, parking and fuel all sorted, no hidden costs.

Booking was simple and confirmation came through with the driver's number, which was reassuring. From our Agra hotel to Mathura and back, everything was seamless. Krishna Janmasthan felt deeply atmospheric and the guide balanced the spiritual side with practical tips on dress and photography. Great pure-veg lunch recommendation too. Would happily recommend this to anyone based in Agra.

Good, authentic experience and a knowledgeable guide. Fair warning that April is genuinely hot, so the AC car and the bottled water were much appreciated. A couple of the Vrindavan temple stops felt slightly rushed as we tried to fit everything in, but the Banke Bihari and ISKCON visits were the standouts. Solid value overall for a private day out from Agra.

Travelling solo as a woman, I felt completely comfortable the entire day. Door-to-door pickup meant I never had to worry about transport, and the guide stayed close through the busy bazaars. He clearly loves Vrindavan and it showed. Watching the devotion at ISKCON was unforgettable. For ninety dollars covering car, guide, water and all the tolls, it's excellent value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, complimentary pickup and drop-off at your Agra hotel is included in the $90 price. Your driver and guide come to your hotel lobby at the agreed morning time, so there's no need to arrange transport to a meeting point. Just share your Agra hotel name and address when you book and confirm your preferred start time.
Agra to Mathura is roughly 60 km, around 1.5 hours each way by car, with Vrindavan just a short 10-15 minute hop beyond Mathura. Because this is a full round trip in a private air-conditioned car, you'll spend a fair amount of the day on the road, but the ride is comfortable and your driver handles all the navigation, tolls and parking.
The itinerary centres on the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi (Krishna Janmasthan) temple in Mathura, believed to be Lord Krishna's birthplace, then the famous Banke Bihari Temple and the ISKCON Temple in Vrindavan. There's also time to explore more of Vrindavan's temples, ghats and lively bazaars depending on how the day flows and how long you like to linger at each stop.
This is a fully private tour — the air-conditioned car, driver and guide are yours alone. You set the pace, decide how long to spend at each temple, and can adjust the order of stops with your guide. It's ideal for couples, families or small groups who want flexibility rather than a fixed group schedule.
The $90 covers the private car, fuel, tolls, parking, your guide, water and all taxes with GST. The major temples on this route — Krishna Janmabhoomi, Banke Bihari and ISKCON — are free to enter, so there are no significant ticket costs. Any small optional donations, shoe-minding fees or camera charges at individual shrines would be paid by you on the spot.
Your booking includes hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional tour guide, the private round-trip air-conditioned car, mineral water bottles, and all fuel, tolls, parking and allowances with GST. Meals and personal shopping are not included, which keeps you free to eat where you like and try Mathura's famous pedas at your own pace.
Expect a moderate amount of walking on foot around temple complexes and through narrow lanes, often over uneven stone and with shoes removed at shrines. There are no big climbs, and the car drops you close to each site, so older travellers generally manage well. If anyone in your group has limited mobility, mention it when booking and your guide will keep the pace gentle.
Yes, families are very welcome. Kids usually enjoy the colour and music of Vrindavan's temples, especially the lively ISKCON complex. The private car means you can take breaks, keep to nap times and carry snacks. Just keep little ones close in the busy bazaars and at crowded darshan queues, and bring hats and water for the warmer months.
Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered — this is essential at active Hindu temples like Banke Bihari and ISKCON. Wear slip-on shoes or sandals you can remove easily, as footwear must be left outside every shrine. Lightweight, breathable cotton is best given the heat, and it's worth carrying a small bag or scarf for your shoes and belongings.
October to March is the most comfortable season, with pleasant days for temple-hopping; April to June can be very hot. Starting early from Agra means you beat the worst heat and arrive before the biggest darshan crowds. If your visit coincides with Janmashtami or Holi, Mathura and Vrindavan are spectacular but extremely busy, so plan for slower going.
Photography is generally fine around the town, ghats and temple exteriors, but many inner sanctums prohibit cameras and phones, notably Banke Bihari. Your guide will tell you exactly where photos are allowed and where to leave devices. Please always be respectful of worshippers during darshan and follow the notices at each shrine.
Absolutely — while meals aren't included, your guide can point you to trusted spots for Mathura's famous pedas and simple vegetarian thalis. Note that Mathura and Vrindavan are largely vegetarian and alcohol-free holy towns, so expect pure-veg food. Since the car is private, you can pause for lunch or a sweet-shop stop whenever it suits you.
This tour bundles the car, driver, guide and logistics from Agra into one price. If you're already in Mathura and only need expert commentary, consider our official Mathura and Vrindavan tour guide service. If you're starting further afield, the Delhi, Agra and Mathura same-day trip covers all three in one long day.
Yes — with a private car, a professional guide and door-to-door service, this is a comfortable and safe way to see Mathura and Vrindavan. Your guide stays with you through the crowded lanes and busy darshan areas and helps you handle persistent touts and vendors. For extra peace of mind, keep valuables secure in the busy bazaars, as you would at any popular pilgrimage site.
Book online and share your Agra hotel details and preferred pickup time, and you'll receive confirmation with your driver's contact information. Because it's a private departure, the car runs on your schedule. If your plans are still forming, you might also look at booking a dedicated Mathura and Vrindavan guide to pair with your own transport.
For the most current cancellation terms, check the booking panel at the time of reservation, as policies can vary by date and season. As a general rule for private tours like this, cancelling well ahead of your travel date gives the most flexibility, while last-minute changes may be limited. If your dates shift, contact us early and we'll do our best to rearrange your private car and guide.
