This is a 3-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Bali Discount Adventure, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Kintamani is the ridge on the rim of the Batur caldera, at about 1,500 metres, and the viewpoint at Penelokan looks down on the volcano, the lava field of the 1968 eruption and Lake Batur. It is cool enough for a jacket. Penglipuran, in Bangli on the road up, is a traditional village of stone-paved lanes and bamboo-roofed compounds that keeps its layout under village rules, with a bamboo forest behind it. The coffee plantations along this road sell tastings of local arabica and robusta and the civet-processed kopi luwak; the tastings are free with the expectation of a purchase, and the caged civets at some of them are worth asking about before you buy.

The tour had exactly what I wanted to see, the Tegalalang rice terrace, a coffee plantage and the mountain/vulcano overview. I could take all the time I needed and didn't feel rushed at all. Not only did I see all the beautiful landscapes, I also learned a lot about Bali, the culture/traditions and its people. The driver was very knowledgable and I could ask him anything. There was some time left after we saw everything and I could even make suggestions to go to other places I wanted to see. So we also went to Ubud Palace and the market. I had a lovely day! Would really recommend this tour.

It was a great and very diverse tour. The Rice fields were gorgeous, and the view of the vulcano was truly amazing especially as I could enjoy it while having a great lunch. My driver/guide Mr Pancha was a sweetheart, a true gentlemen and very knowledgeable. Can highly recommend the tour!
