Full description

This is a 6-hour experience from Ubud, built around Kintamani and Tampaksiring. It is run by Friends in Bali, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Cycling tours around Ubud are mostly downhill: a van takes you up to Kintamani on the caldera rim at about 1,500 metres and the ride comes back down through the villages, past temples, family compounds and paddies, over 20 to 25 kilometres with very little pedalling, ending near Ubud around lunch. E-bike versions do the same loop with power for the short climbs. River tubing runs on the Ayung's calmer stretches and the Siap river near Payangan, an hour or so on the water in a single tube, and pairs with the ride on many of these days. Helmets are provided and the roads are shared with scooters, so the guide leads and stops the group at junctions.

Pickup is offered from Ubud and Kuta; the exact spot and time are agreed with Friends in Bali once the booking is confirmed, and the option you choose sets whether transport is included.

The price covers Hotel return transfers, Cycling equipment and mineral water, Light breakfast overlooking Mount and Lake Batur, Charitable contribution to a local school and Balinese lunch. It does not cover Alcoholic beverage, Sun block lotion and Souvenirs and personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Friends in Bali sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Friends in Bali before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Really relaxed day exploring the rice fields by bike and learning about traditions, culture and family life in Bali. Well worth every penny. Lunch and breakfast were delicious too.

This was an amazing day we really enjoyed visiting the school. I would recommend taking 20 of everything as the teachers try to spread the love by giving each class a turn. There were about 20 children in each year, so I would take 20 packs of pencils and possibly 20 drawing books so each child could have a set each. The cycling was mostly downhill, there were a few hills and I feel you have to be at a reasonable fitness level. Beautiful country side and an amazing guide. We also had lunch at a local restaurant, which was lovely.

Very well organized day. Enjoyed it thoroughly. We are in our mid 60s and no problem at all cycling for the 27kms as it is all downhill, any level of fitness will love this experience. We drove up to Kintamani to enjoy the incredible view to the volcano and huge crater.... then went to coffee plantation and tasted many different types of coffees and teas including luwak...went a bit nuts in the shop afterward buying home made coffees, teas and chocolate. Also got to see some of the little animals that poo out the coffee seed..... then did some cycling thru the most beautiful rice fields and vi

We had a great day on the downhill cycle with our Guide Ari. His English was incredible! The cycle was easy as it was all downhill on country roads. We made a few stops on route and Ari have us lots of information on Balinese culture. We stopped in to see a Balinese school and a typical Balinese house which was a great experience. We then stopped for a chicken satay lunch before our driver took us back home. Great tour, thanks Ari!
