This is a 10-hour experience in Ubud, built around Gianyar, Local restaurant and Ubud. It is run by Baliosa Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Ubud's reputation as Bali's art town dates from the 1930s, when the painters Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet settled here and, with the royal family, founded the Pita Maha artists' association that shaped the Ubud painting style. The Neka, Puri Lukisan and ARMA museums hold the best collections, and the villages around the town still specialise: Batuan in painting, Mas in carving, Celuk in silver. Studio workshops take that into a few hours of making something yourself with an instructor, and you leave with the piece. Wear something that can take paint, wax or dye.

Meeting and being hosted by Bagus was superb. Communication prior to the activity was timely and clear. Bagus met us 10 mins before the pick up time at the Sofitel Nusa Dua. Bagus was very informative and spoke excellent English. We visited Balinese owned art studios/workahops that are perpetuating their art forms - silver and gold smiths, batik and weaving, painting and wood carving. We were provided with water and lunch.
