Full description

This is a 6-hour experience from Ubud, built around Paon Escape. It is run by Paon Escape Balinese Cooking Class, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Balinese cooking classes usually begin at a morning market to buy the ingredients, then move to a family compound or a purpose-built kitchen. The base of most dishes is base genep, a spice paste of shallots, garlic, galangal, turmeric, ginger, chillies, candlenut and shrimp paste pounded together, and from it come sate lilit (minced meat on lemongrass sticks), lawar (a chopped salad with coconut and blood in the traditional version), pepes (fish steamed in banana leaf) and the yellow rice, nasi kuning. Classes run three to four hours, you eat what you make at the end, and vegetarian versions are standard on request.

The price covers Ubud pickup & guided visit to a traditional morning market, Harvest fresh ingredients from a village garden, Cook authentic dishes in a traditional village kitchen, Recipe booklet + cooking videos for home learning and Enjoy freshly prepared Balinese dishes with drinks. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Pura Dalem Puri Peliatan. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Paon Escape Balinese Cooking Class before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

This class was so fun and the food was soooo good! I was the only person who booked and they took such good care of me! They picked me up, gave me a tour of the farm and I got to pluck and eat the fresh fruit and feed the cows. Every dish was delicious and the ingredients were so fresh. If you love taking a cooking class in every country you visit like I do, don't sleep on this class! A++++

We loved every minute of our day trip because everything went smoothly from the very beginning of being picked up all the way to the start of the cooking class, where we were given a tour of the farm and we got to experience all the local fruits. After that we began cooking with a one-to-one chef experience, with any question that we had being answered with extensive local knowledge throughout the process. We were laughing and learning and able to taste the food as we were making it. We'd never tried such fresh Indonesian food and it definitely made Indonesian food our favourite cuisine. Canno

had such a wonderful experience at this garden harvest cooking class on the farm with Mado as our host. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, peaceful, and welcoming. The farm itself was beautiful—surrounded by nature, fresh herbs, and vegetables growing right where we could see and pick them. The first food was absolutely delicious, and I left not only with new recipes but also with a deeper appreciation for farming and mindful cooking. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting and looking for something authentic, relaxing, and inspiring. Thank you, Mado, for such a

had such an amazing experience at this Balinese cooking class it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip! The whole day was so well organized, and the staff were incredibly friendly from the moment they picked me up at my hostel. As a solo traveler, I was a little nervous doing something like this on my own, but they made me feel so comfortable and right at home right away. The instructors were kind, patient, and made everything easy to follow, so I learned a lot while still having fun. The food we made was absolutely delicious I was honestly so impressed and I loved that they let me h
