This is a 1.5-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Blue Lagoon Snorkeling, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Diving from Bali centres on three areas: Tulamben in the east, where the USAT Liberty wreck lies from 5 to 30 metres a short swim off the beach; Nusa Penida, with drift dives along the north coast, mantas at Manta Point and, from July to October, sunfish at Crystal Bay; and Menjangan in the north-west, with wall dives in the national park. Water is 26 to 29°C except at Penida in the mola season, when thermoclines drop it to 20. A PADI Open Water course takes three to four days including theory and confined-water sessions. Sea walker and discover-scuba sessions need no certification and stay shallow.
