This is a 2-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

We had a fantastic day. Our driver, Andi Putra, was incredibly welcoming. We had some great conversations with him. We really enjoyed spending the day with him. The hot springs were wonderfully warm, and the views were amazing. The jeep ride was exceptional, and the view from the top was breathtaking.

The Mount Batur sunset was really worth seeing. Our driver, Dedy, was super helpful, punctual, and very kind; he drove very carefully. Our jeep driver and guide, Arista, took us to the sunset and took perfect photos on the roof of the jeep and next to it. He knew the best places to take photos and videos, and he was flexible with us, so we could decide what we wanted. We also got some snacks and water, so it was really great. But at that hour it can be a little cold, so I encourage you to bring a jacket (because I forgot and Arista gave me a blanket haha). After finishing the jeep journey, Ded

We had an amazing day with Buda and Leon! Buda took us to different places throughout the day, including the coffee plantation, hot springs, and the Jeep tour. We had wonderful daytrip! Our bus driver was on time and the bus ride was very smooth. The hot springs are really nice - and the water is very hot. The next activity was the Jeep trip up to mount Batur. The divers Leon and Agus are super friendly and we had a lot of fun! We can highly recommend the trip!
