Gianyar Night Market Food Tour with up to 17+ Tastings in Ubud
Full description
This is a 3-hour experience from Ubud, built around Pasar Gianyar. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Balinese food is built on base genep, the island's spice paste, and eaten from warungs and night markets more than restaurants. Babi guling, spit-roast pig with crackling and spiced rice, is the dish the island is known for; nasi campur is rice with a spoonful of several things; sate lilit is minced meat on lemongrass; and lawar is the chopped salad that comes with most of it. Gianyar's night market opens at about 5:00 in the evening and is the best one near Ubud. Food tours stop at six to ten places for small portions, so arrive hungry, and tell the guide about chilli tolerance early, because Balinese sambal is not mild.
The price covers Samples up to 15 dishes, Tour guide, Mineral water, Hotel pickup and drop-off and Transportation. It does not cover Alcoholic beverages, Other food and beverage expenses, Gratuities and Personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Hotel pickup in Ubud. Trip Gotik - Bali Tours confirms your pickup time and the exact spot once the booking is in. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Trip Gotik - Bali Tours before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Tia was an amazing guide! She showed many foods that are commonly eaten and explained how each dish is made/cooked. She made sure to accommodate those of us who can’t do a lot of spice and those who can. She took into consideration the foods that may affect our digestion since we were not from this area, which was so appreciated lol. I loved this tour because it helped me try foods I would never have ordered on my own just because of lack of knowledge and hesitation. I glad I didn’t eat before because I was busting at the seems in the end. Must do tour!!!
From start to finish, Ryan was SUPERB!!! He knew a lot about all the different cuisines and was very very kind! One of the BEST tours I’ve gone on.
Ryan was an outstanding guide. In the car to the market he told me about Balinese culture, temples, religion, food, & Indonesia in general. Very interesting. He is a very good driver & the car spotlessly clean, with aircon. Pick up was easily confirmed & arranged. Water was provided. The market was busy; Ryan was knowledgeable about the food, ingredients, preparation & cooking methods. He made sure I was well looked after. It is a lot of food & eating all of it would have been impossible. Food was varied, bursting with flavour. We had chicken, fish, pork, goat, eggs, rice, veg, noodles, fruit
It was more than I expected, so many tastings with very good quantity, small number of people and great chats with about the local food knowledge and beyond that too. A 100% recommend anyone to try this out and have a safe- warm- fun time exploring the local night market and Indonesian food culture, could not even finish the food after a point, it was so good and in great quantity! Good tour and even great a host! :))
Our toyr with Sakur was great. He was very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions. His English was very good and had good conversation, asking us about our culture traditions as well. We sampled until we got full. Had lots of spicy dishes, wide variety of proteins. Recommend going to this market with a lcal, because if not I had no idea what most of the dishes were.
Our guide Ryan was the best part of the tour. He was friendly and knowledgeable.
My husband and I did the night market tour with Suker on a Sunday night. We were the only ones on the tour and we had a great time. Suker was fantastic, telling us not only about food but about Bali in general. We were able to try many different types of food, and we were the ones to have to tell our guide we too full to keep eating. I have done many food tours in different countries, the only thing that surprised us here was that we didn’t move around too much. Everything is pretty much in a central place, but what was nice was that 95 percent of the people eating there were not tourists, so
This is a great experience to eat like a local away from tourist hotspots and learn about how the locals eat. wonderful food and plenty of sweets for the sweetooths.
I really enjoyed this tour! It is a fair price, with really interesting and unique, tasting dishes! I felt like we were hanging out with the locals, and our guide, Ryan, was so knowledgeable about the Balinese culture and food!
Gus our guide messaged me to confirm my booking and giving me directions on where to meet. Gus was fabulous, explaining all the dishes as we went. How they were prepared and cooked what spices and vegetables used. Our dishes ranged from succulent bubi guling, pandan martabak to klepon Bali 😊
We had a group of 6 plus infant. Brilliant and compassionate driver and guide. Car was spotless. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly and passionate about his work. Flexible. Wouls Defiantly recommend
Amazing Balinese food tour experience with Ryan our guide. Greatly enjoyed tasting all the local food and drinks and learnt a lot about the favourite dishes and pairings. Left feeling very very full with some sweet treats to enjoy later. We would 100% recommend this tour if youd like to experience some local delicacies.
