This is a 3-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

This was a great experience with amazing views, completely worth the super early start! Our Jeep driver Ablun was like a professional photographer for us for the Mount Batur sunrise and volcanic rock site. He knew all of the perfect angles and spots, you could really tell how experienced he was. He was also very considerate with wiping down the top and back of the Jeep for us to sit, and making sure we were hanging on tight for the bumpy ride.
We had a great day, the sunrise at Mount Batur was amazing and the tubing was really fun. Our guide, Yoga, was very friendly and knowledgeable - It was really interesting speaking to him about Balinese culture and having a laugh whilst driving to different locations - It really topped off a great day!
Great trip. Worth getting up at 2am. Views are beautiful and driver helping to get good pictures. River tubing was a great experience and guides was super helpful and make experience even better with great pictures and created safe fun. Amazing day! Our driver Eddy arrived early to our pickup point and was very friendly. He communicated what each part of the day would include which was helpful and drove cautiously. Made us feel very safe. The Mt.Batur trip was great. Made wage did an awesome job of getting us to the top to watch the sunrise. He was also very handy with a phone camera. My partner and I had an amazing day today during this tour. We highly recommend. Our driver Andi was amazing, so kind and polite. Shout out to him for picking us up so early and waiting around all day for us. Our jeep driver Angga was also amazing, made sure to take great photos and gave us lots of historical information about the land we were on. After that, we went to river tubing. This activity was so much fun and the tubing team was absolutely amazing, had many laughs and a great time :)
This activity was amazing. BAYU was such a good driver for us all day and Ablon was awesome with driving the Jeep and providing us with very interesting information. Big thanks as well to the 2 guides we had during the River tubing. They were great and made the whole experience so much better

Overall - great tour! The meeting point was easy to find, they offered free coffee and tea there. We arrived at the top of the volcano around 5:05 and had seen the whole Milky Way disappearing into the sunrise. It was the best experience! And our guide Wilhelma was absolutely brilliant, he showed us beautiful views, and took breathtaking pictures. Very highly recommended!!! Thank you!
