Full description
This is a 5-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

So worth the super early start. Both my transfer driver (Nyoman Wiguna) and jeep driver/guide (Komang Adipta) were amazing! Both made our experience feel very safe, very friendly and always there to help when needed. Nothing was too much for the both of them. Not only were they attentive, the pictures taken were incredible, so professional! Couldn't have asked for a better team to make our morning as special as it was. The breakfast was light and simple, but was all that was needed for the occasion. Nyoman was very kind when we got to the hot springs, ensuring us to take as long as we'd like.
pick up 3.15 am my driver Nyoman was on time and very friendly. he brougt us to near by Batur and than we got into the jeep. also very nice driver. jeep took about 20 minutes to get up, half way the Mountain. (not to the top). there are a lot of jeeps!! we waithed about one hour to see the sunrise. beautiful. it is colder up there, you can by blanket to hire 100 idr. you get your little breakfest. nice. then the jeep bring you to lava. nice. then de jeep drops you off at warm water springs ..so good!! then after 90 min the taxidriver brought us home again.. very beautiful trip!!
We had an amazing experience from start to finish! Our driver Yoga was absolutely wonderful. He was super friendly, kind and we had such great conversations with him throughout the day. We really enjoyed spending the day with him and he made the whole experience even more special. Our Jeep driver Dedik was also fantastic! He drove very safely and professionally and was incredibly helpful. Had a really good experience with Ari on the Mount Batur trip! He took care of everything till the base point, and we had some really good conversations along the way. He even dropped me back near my hostel after the trip, which was really nice of him. The Jeep driver was also super cool and honestly felt like a professional photographer 😂—he knew all the best spots and clicked some great pictures. Overall, a really fun and smooth experience!

Our driver Dedy picked us up early in the morning and brought us safe and sound to the jeep pickup point at mount batur. From there we went on an amazing drive up to the mountain in a 4x4 to catch the sunrise. Overall it was a magical and romantic experience and we felt taken care of from start to finish. Ps: don't forget to bring warm clothing's as in the morning it gets quite cold.
