Full description
This is a 3-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur. It is run by PT. Gorilla Adventures Bali, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

Everything was exactly as described, and both the quad tour and the jet-skiing were phenomenal. The routes were exciting to ride, offering a real thrill, and the sunrise was beautiful. All the guides, drivers, and staff members were incredibly accommodating and made everyone feel great. Oh wow what a Tour, definitely worth the cost and time. The Sunrise at Batur was unbelievable and driving there with an ATV is the most fun and intense way. Through Streets, Fields, Sideroads and also steep Forest offroad section. Wow we loved it so much we would do it a second time just for the fun being on an ATV and enjoy this unbelievable feeling of freedom and adventure. The Guide was awesome and took Photos.
