Full description
This is a 5-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

It does not cover Personal expenses and Lunch, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Rama our transfer driver was polite and on time and was able to help us locate a shop on the way back from our Mount Batur sunrise Motorbike experience. Very experienced riders who were able to ride me and my partner to the highest point possible for a vehicle, further than a jeep/4x4. Then a short 10min walk to the top of the mountain. Julio was an excellent guide supplying breakfast and hot drinks at the view point for the sunrise. Andi Putra was so prompt in picking me up and dropping me off. I had the best time. Super accommodating and kind & taught me so much in the short time we spent together. It was very enjoy from start to finish. Andi Putra was my driver and picked me up from the hotel. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and shared good information about the hike up the mountain. After dropping me off at the base of the mountain, our motor bike driver and hike guide Juliawan explained what to expect and lead us the way up the mountain. The motor bike took roughly 20mins to go up the mountain and then it’ll be a 15min hike to the highest point. The views were amazing! Mind blowing. Great experience! A very professional and careful driver takes you up the hill at night and back to the base after the sunrise. The views of the night sky and a marvellous sunrise are amazing, and the adrenaline you get is strong enough to want more. Be prepared to low temperatures and cold wind up on the mountain so dress accordingly - sweatsuit with a thick hoodie and a light puff jacket will make your trip perfectly comfortable. There’s hot tea and coffee down at the meeting point but a thermocup of something hot would make your time on the top of the mountain even more enjoyable
The sunrise trek on Mount Batur was incredible, and the entire team made it even better. The riders were super friendly and fun. A special thanks goes to Danan, our transport driver — he was extremely kind, patient, and made the journey to and from the mountain very comfortable. Important note: you ride as a passenger on the dirt bike, not as a driver. Great way to experience Mount Batur! The motorbikes are such a unique experience and so scenic on the ride down. Definitely much more bearable and fun than doing the full hike. Our driver Kinyong was great and very professional. And our guide up to the summit was phenomenal, very kind and knowledgeable and made the hike safe and fun.
Tour was good! Dirt bike up the mountain for 20mins and watch sunrise and 20min dirt bike drive down. Very well organised and timely tour. My driver Sukania, was very nice, picked up and dropped off in Seminyak :))
