Full description
This is a 7-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur and Hot spring. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

Great morning hiking up an active volcano! Nova was a great guide helping us find the best routes and taking plenty of water breaks. He was very chatty and friendly throughout the walk! Also cooked us up a lovely breakfast at the top of the volcano! Thanks Nova! Suas (our driver) was always punctual and very welcoming. He explained all activities in depth and was very friendly. He was a smooth driver and a really nice person. We would definitely recommend Suas to anyone. Amazing day overall!
We lived 1hr 30mins away from destination and Ronaldo our amazing driver picked us up right on time in the morning and was a funny and kind man. He would guide us through some history and local knowledge on the way to the mountain where we met our hiking guide lytia she was lovely as she helped us through the tracks and let us take stops when needed and never made anyone feel uncomfortable for stopping. Halfway up the mountain there are options to take a bike to the top if you need it. Ronaldo was very accomodating when dropping us to our resorts and when falling asleep he turned the music off
The pick ups were easy. Guides were good communicators for the walk up. It was crazy windy up there, make sure you have sunglasses or similar as the ash whips around everywhere can make it hard to watch the sunrise but it was a beautiful view
One of the best experiences in Bali! Our driver Ismail offered us the most comfortable ride. He is such a good driver. Our guide Adi was the best. Adi is one of the reasons we loved this hike so much. I want to thank them both. And also the hot spring after the hike was soooo relaxing. We loved every moment of this tour.
Our driver Katek was incredible! He is THE BEST PERSON in BALI I swear! He is so nice, kind and helpful. I loved all the interesting information about indonesian tradition and way of living he told us while we were driving. The hike was definitely challenging on the way up, but we stoped to rest good amount of times and finally maid it! Wishing all the best in life to Katek, he is special✨!

Great day. The sunrise view was amazing. Nice photos with the Indonesian flag at the top of mount batur. The hike was easier than expected. Head torch provided but i came with an extra torch and was useful. Hot springs were very relaxing and well needed after all the walking. Coffee plantation was okay. Expect a 10 hour day and thats for someone being collected in central ubud
Amazing trip!! Our driver, Ronald, is one of the best of all time. He's not only a good driver and knowledgeable on the area's history, but he's got a great personality and sense of humor! He made the long drive go by quickly, especially with his fun music choices. Our hike guide, Katur, was also excellent and kind! I'd highly recommend this experience
We were actually very blown away by the whole experience. Our driver was lovely and patient and helped when we got lost during pick up. Then our guide up the volcano Guday (I’m sorry I can’t spell his name) was AMAZING. He was so kind and funny and built team spirit between our little group. He was knowledgeable and funny and got us motivated by singing Adele with us during our hike to the top. Our banana sandwiches were the cherry on top! Our hiking guide told us he does the sunrise walk daily, it was truly inspiring to see how hard they work and still all with a smile on their faces. Thankyo

The tour was absolutely wonderful! It’s true that you have to wake up very early, but it was completely worth it. We’d also like to give a special mention to our driver, Ismael, who was fantastic, and especially to our guide, Mr. Sar, who was excellent. He took us along a route that allowed us to avoid the crowds as much as possible, and he went above and beyond to make the experience special. Batur trail, then took us over to the hot springs, the coffee plantation, and back to our hotel. Our guide KAM took us up the volcano for the sunrise hike, and he was fantastic—super encouraging, knowledgeable, and kept a great pace. Couldn’t have asked for a better team. 10/10 recommend!
