This is a 5-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur and Kintamani. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.
The price covers Hotel transfer, driver, trekking guide, Light breakfast and Coffee/tea at the starting point and in the lounge. It does not cover Lunch and Personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Definitely the most amazing experience I had this trip! Communication was clear, transportation was very clean and our driver Pasek was on time and drove us safely and smoothly. Our hiking guide Agus was excellent and clearly loves his job! He paced the hike really well so everyone can have time to catch breath and even helped dragged me up the steepest part of the hike 😅. He was fun, ensured we are all safe and took lots of excellent photos. We were blessed with clear skies and the most amazing sunrise 😍 Please don't leave Bali without booking this trip.

Roman was the most incredible guide. The hike was absolutely stunning even with a cloudy morning. Roman was so funny and took awesome photos of us on the top, making this experience as amazing as can be. Definitely a harder trek but SO worth it. Breakfast was great too especially with the view, but be sure to put on layers as it gets very cold on the top. Overall 10/10 experience highly recommend!!

This was such a great trip. We had the most amazing views and fun hike and delicious breakfast at the top. Great value for money!! We had the most amazing time with the most beautiful view. It is worth to wake up early in the morning and attend this activity. Mr Prapte Baguszz was very friendly and helpful. After the mount batur trip we also went to coffee plantation where they explained all about the types of coffee they are making. Prapte Baguszz also helped us to take pictures and stop in the best locations of the area to take scenic pictures of the area

This was a more challenging hike than expected as the route is very slippery so proper footwear is recommended. The views however are totally worth it. It can get cold at top so it is best to pack warm clothes for the start and at the top. Our driver Eka was very helpful, organised and communicated well as we needed to be picked up from Sanur and drove 2 hours there and back. Our guide for the trek Ari was excellent, very considerate and nice and constantly made sure we were all managing. A woman in our group unfortunately twisted her ankle and Ari supported her the rest of the way up and back
On September 2, 2026, we climbed Mount Batur with a guide named Ari. Everything went great and very professionally. We had an awesome and positive group. Special thanks to our driver who brought us safely and on time both ways. Do not hesitate to ask questions and learn more about the local culture. Our guide Ari was happy to share her knowledge with us. The views are incredible, and you will definitely not regret it. Advice: Wear warm clothes. You will feel hot while walking up, but it gets very cold and windy at the top.
