This is a 7-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

This was an amazing adventure and definitely the highlight of our time on our Bali trip thus far. It was so beautiful and going at sunset was the way to go as there were only a couple of people at the top with us. Our driver was Angga and he was on time and even let us play music, he was so friendly! Our guide was Mosel and he was really great, kept us at a good pace and cooked eggs for us in the volcanic rock which was so cool! Definitely recommend 10/10!

I almost don’t want to leave a review for fear of this becoming too popular and overcrowded… This was the most amazing afternoon ever! We were spared the early morning wake up, there were only about 20 people at the top, the views were unbelievable and sunset was fantastic and our guide Dedy was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. 10/10, do not miss this!
The trip was perfect, the pick up from the hotel was smooth and comfortable, Suas drove me safely to the destination. The guide was very qualified and I had an amazing trek up the mountain. Recommend!
The trip was very good. Unfortunately, I wasn’t blessed with the clear view from the top, the sunset was hiding behind a thick cloud surrounding Mount Batur. Nevertheless, it was worth the steep hike. Picnic on the peak was simple, yet very rewarding. I chose a ride back with a motorcycle - so good to know there’s a plan B if hiking conditions gets too difficult!
Vereinigte nice and politely diverse, speaks very good english and drives absolutely secure. The guide to the top was also absolutely helpful and speaks very good english. The hike on the hill at sundown was perfect, because we had the sun on one side and the total eclipse on the other. Highly recommended and thanks a lot!
Me and my partner had a great experience with driver Angga and guide Nyoman today. We were picked up from our villa and stopped for coffee along the way. The walk was very scenic and Nyoman was very friendly and knowledgeable. The views from the top of the mountain were amazing. 10/10 ⭐️
Perfect sunset trek done today thanks to our incredible guide Wayan, who securely brought us to Batur summit, and granted us with his volcano cooking. We spent a wonderful moment with him. We were safely and consciously driven by Dedy all along from Ubud, we sincerely recommend him.
It’s a good treck and Nyoman was a lovely guide and he really impressed us when he cooked bananas and eggs in the volcanic rocks!
The trip was wonderful! The hike can be demanding at times, but the view is stunning. Our guide up Mount Batur was very warm and friendly. He made sure we had plenty of breaks and made a nice picnic :) Our driver Kade was very nice and punctual! Definitely recommend!!
Kadek was a wonderful host. He picked us up in a timely manner and told us many facts about the coffee plantations and the mt batur. Pruna was our mountain tour guide and he helped us so much. This was a 5 star trip and we are delighted with the service.
Fantastic experience, out driver Pebry was excellent and our guides brilliant and knowledgeable - Sar and Janson. This is a difficult climb and the guides were great at taking it at our pace, giving us confidence and making the whole thing enjoyable. At the top Sar cooked bananas and eggs on the volcano and took some fabulous photos for us. The climb is tough it is not for the faint hearted but the view from the top was worth it
