This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur Jeep Tour by YBT and Mount Batur. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

It was a great start to the day. The day couldn't have started better. From the punctual pick-up by Tora, who took me to the meeting place of the Jeep group. The driver and guide Derik for very safely through the rough terrain up to the mountain, where we then wait for the big moment. Derik took a great picture of us. The lava fields were very impressive and inspiring respect. Derik also made sure that I was picked up again by Torah. Tora is a super sweet and nice and attentive driver. We had a lot of fun. Thank you both for making this great day so great for me.
Het was ge-wel-dig!! We hebben echt een onwijs leuke en prachtige ochtend gehad en dat allemaal te danken aan onze tourguide Wi. Hij maakte foto’s als een professional, is super aardig en meedenkend en zorgde voor een enorm goede sfeer. Het uitzicht vanaf mount Batur was adembenemend, iets wat ik nooit meer zou vergeten! I had a beautiful sunrise tour today and want to sincerely thank my driver, Krisna. The pickup was punctual and very pleasant, and right from the start I felt well taken care of. Throughout the tour, Krisna was always there exactly when I finished each activity, making the whole experience smooth and stress-free. His calm and friendly manner made the day truly enjoyable, and I was able to fully appreciate the tour. Overall, it was a wonderful morning with impressive views and excellent service. I can genuinely recommend Krisna and am very grateful for this great experience.

We joined the sunrise Jeep tour with a visit to Taman Sari Waterfall and had a fantastic experience. Our driver Ridho drove calmly without rushing or risky overtaking, played great music, and even asked for our preferences. His English was excellent, and he shared interesting insights about Bali, its culture, and traditions. Our Jeep driver Niks also made us feel safe at all times, drove carefully, offered to take photos, and carried a delicious breakfast for us. The whole trip was wonderfully organized, the pick-up went smoothly, and the experience itself was truly memorable.
