Night Market Feast with a Balinese Culinary Odyssey in Ubud
Full description
This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Gianyar. It is run by Bali Food Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Balinese food is built on base genep, the island's spice paste, and eaten from warungs and night markets more than restaurants. Babi guling, spit-roast pig with crackling and spiced rice, is the dish the island is known for; nasi campur is rice with a spoonful of several things; sate lilit is minced meat on lemongrass; and lawar is the chopped salad that comes with most of it. Gianyar's night market opens at about 5:00 in the evening and is the best one near Ubud. Food tours stop at six to ten places for small portions, so arrive hungry, and tell the guide about chilli tolerance early, because Balinese sambal is not mild.
The price covers Guided street food and night market experience, English-speaking guide, Selected food tastings at local stalls, Herbal tea and traditional Balinese coffee tasting and Hotel pickup and drop-off for the Private option only. It does not cover Alcohol, Personal expenses, Hotel pickup and drop-off for the walking tour option and Gratuities, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Hotel pickup in Ubud. Bali Food Tour confirms your pickup time and the exact spot once the booking is in. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Bali Food Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Nata was an amazing guide and we had an awesome time - we got to try incredible food we would never have found ourselves. Great fun and I cannot recommend enough.
not as good as i thought it would be for the price.
the food was great, the tour guide was amazing and knew where to take for good.
Great! You can eat whatever you like and get the local favourites. I ate so much I went home afterwards and passed out. Guide was excellent and informative. We had sweet, smoky, salty and spicy! A great time overall and I felt very looked after.
I never would have thought to try all the Balinese dishes we tried were it not for this tour, because I wouldn’t have known what to look for. I really appreciated about my guide that he could recommend foods that were in line with my dietary restrictions. The tea tasting was great too! It was all delicious. I’m really glad I booked this.
Coffee and tea tasting was great, night market was an interesting experience, I am glad I had a guide who explained to me what’s what, made sure I am trying tea local cuisine, including babi guling in the local restaurant. Without him I would not know about these places and would not try so manny things.
