Penglipuran Village, Rice Terrace and Waterfall Tour in Ubud
Full description
This is a 2-hour experience from Ubud, built around Penglipuran Village. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Tegallalang terraces are twenty minutes north of Ubud on the road to Kintamani, and they are working paddies fed by the subak irrigation system that UNESCO listed in 2012. Before about 8:30 in the morning the valley belongs to the farmers, the paddies are still wet from the night, and it is cool enough to walk down through the terraces and up the far side. By ten the coaches from the south arrive and the road above the terraces becomes a line of cafes, swings and photo platforms. There is a small entry fee at the viewpoint, and farmers along the paths through the fields ask for a few thousand rupiah to cross their land, which is normal. The swings are separate businesses with their own prices.
The price covers guide, Entry ticket to all attractions, Hotel transfer, Air-conditioned vehicle and Mineral water. It does not cover Meals, Personal expenses and Optional add-ons, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Hotel pickup in Ubud. Trip Gotik - Bali Tours confirms your pickup time and the exact spot once the booking is in. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Trip Gotik - Bali Tours before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

The tour was absolutely perfect! Komang was my guide, and he was so kind and knowledgeable, I was so lucky to have him. He was an excellent and safe driver. We went at the perfect pace visiting the waterfall, pengelipuran village, the temple then beautiful rice fields. Komang answered all my questions and was so knowledgeable. He is also an expert photographer and took the initiative to take photos of me at nice spots, so I have some very memorable photos and memories of this perfect day trip. I highly recommend this tour and its definitely one of the highlights of my trip in Ubud, Bali. Thank

Long was such a great guide, so knowledgeable about the culture, history, and geography. I really enjoyed my day with him. Penglipuran villiage was magical and I recommend all travelers to Bali go and see it.
I was so glad to have Iwayan Kar as my Guide. He provided me with all the Information I wanted and explained everything very well. To summ up: it was a lovely chat and interesting conversation about Bali and It’s Culture, Tradition and Religion. If you want to see more than a pretty village, book this tour with him :)
Exceptional Guide – The Best I Had in Bali! Wayan Kari was truly the best guide I had during my three weeks in Bali. He was absolutely exceptional, not only did he share so much valuable information about the places we visited, but he also gave deep insights into Balinese culture, religion and spirituality as well. You can ask him anything, and he takes real joy in explaining things with clarity and passion. Our conversation was memorable and enriching, and I’m incredibly grateful for the time we shared. Thank you ! 🙏 I wholeheartedly recommend him — 100%!
Wayan Kar is a very kind, professional and knowledgeable guide. His family welcomed us into their home for a cooking lesson and to learn about Balinese culture, religion and spirituality. He also took us to see beautiful waterfalls, temples and authentic rice farming. I strongly urge anyone visiting Bali to put this experience at the top of your bucket list! If you love coffee and/or tea, make sure you add on the coffee tasting - it was brilliant.
I took a trip with a great guide, Taru! It was a lot of fun to cook Balinese lunch together and I also enjoyed the coffee and swing. Penglipuran village was pretty! I hope I can come back to Bangli someday.
Truly a wonderful experience! I spent the day with the guide Iwayan kar who spared no details about the fascinating Balinese culture and all the rituals that they have, also I got to cook with his family in their traditional Balinese village home, we’ve made soo many dishes together and they were absolutely delicious. This tour is definitely recommended for someone who’s looking to gain an understanding about the authentic Balinese life, away from the touristy attractions. Thank you Iwayan kar for hosting me 🙏
This was one of our favourite excursions! Sumi and his wife were incredible and we learned so much from Sumi about their heritage. Sumi was amazing in explaining about the Balinese culture and their heritage. It was so much fun cooking delicious food with him and his wife. Thank you Sumi for a wonderful experience and taking care of your heritage!
