Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Sanggraloka Farm, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tirta Empul is a water temple on the Pakerisan river at Tampaksiring, founded in 962 AD around a spring the Balinese hold sacred. The purification ritual, melukat, means entering the pool and moving from spout to spout under the water in order; two of the spouts are reserved for funeral rites and are not used, and a guide will show you which. Sarongs are provided at the entrance, and you will want a change of clothes for afterwards. The temple is busiest with local worshippers around full moon and on Balinese holy days, which is worth knowing rather than avoiding. The presidential palace built by Sukarno in the 1950s stands on the hill directly above the springs.
The price covers Traditional blessing ceremony, Guidance by a Balinese priest, Use of holy water, Wija blessing and Access to public pool at resort area. It does not cover Welcome drink, Food & Drinks, Transportation and Accommodation, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
