ATV tracks around Ubud run through the villages north of the town near Payangan and Tegallalang, on a mix of dirt road, plantation track, river bed and, on most routes, a section of deep mud that is the part people remember. Rides are usually 1.5 to 2 hours on the machine, on tandem or single quads, with a guide leading. You will be dirty from the knees down and often entirely, so wear clothes you do not care about; operators provide boots, helmets and a shower afterwards.
