This is a 1-hour experience from Ubud, built around Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Sacred Monkey Forest in Padangtegal, on the southern edge of Ubud town, is around 12 hectares of forest holding roughly a thousand long-tailed macaques and three temples that date from the fourteenth century. The monkeys are wild and used to people, which is a combination that costs visitors sunglasses, water bottles and anything edible every day; the rule is to carry nothing loose, to avoid eye contact with a monkey that is staring at you, and never to touch one. The forest opens at 9:00 and the last hour before closing is the quietest. The temples inside are working temples and are entered only by worshippers.

I had a great time with Dek Gus. He provided lots of interesting information about Bali culture, the monkeys and the history behind the sanctuary. He was very kind and accommodating! The grounds are huge so I’d definitely recommend the tour for the ease of getting around and being aware of monkey behaviour.
This was an incredible experience from beginning to end! I genuinely loved this tour, and Ketut Artawa made it even more special. He was warm, respectful, thoughtful, and extremely knowledgeable about Balinese culture and traditions. What impressed me most was the way he shared his knowledge. He explained the history, customs, beliefs, and traditions so clearly and beautifully, making every place we visited much more meaningful. He had an answer to every question I asked and was always happy to share more. Ketut was also considerate, attentive, and easy to talk to, creating such a pleasant atm
