This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.
The price covers Hotel transfer, English-speaking driver, Kintamani entrance ticket, Welcome hot drink and small snacks at basecamp and Light breakfast at the sunrise viewpoint. It does not cover Personal expense and Gratuity, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Agus was a great amazing guide and jeep driver on our Mount Batur sunrise tour who was patient with us in taking good photos for all our family during sunrise and before. Fendi was a friendly, gentle and patient driver who was on time at 3am for hotel pick-up and was very patient in helping us in the hotsprings and very flexible in stopping us at a waterfall on our way back to Ubud hotel. I can recommend Agus and Fendi enough! Good communication was also provided in preparation the day before!
Tour started off with an early morning pickup from the hotel. Activities were fun and worthwhile. Rama was an outstanding driver which great hospitality. He remained in constant communication before the tour date and throughout.

A must if you’re in Bali, this was one of my favourite experiences while travelling the views are just amazing. Ari, our transfer driver was so kind and even stopped at a coffee plantation for us to try various teas/coffees. Ares, our jeep tour guide was so friendly and even took us through the off beaten path through this gorgeous village with backdrops of the mountains & Mount Batur where none of the other jeeps went!
The tour was absolutely amazing. Our driver, Kadek, was very patient, friendly, and made the drive feel safe and smooth. The Jeep sunrise tour was truly breathtaking, the views were incredible, and it was such a memorable experience, our Jeep driver, Doress, was also very kind and helpful, and he took some amazing pictures of us and really went the extra mile to make the experience special I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Ubud, it was an unforgettable

An incredible Jeep experience to watch the sunrise at Mount Batur! We especially want to mention Putra Lastchild, who was our driver from Ubud. He was super friendly, punctual, and attentive to us throughout the whole experience. He picked us up from our hotel in Ubud at the agreed time, drove us to Mount Batur, and, once the experience was over, took us safely back to our hotel without any problems.
