This is a 5-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Your Bali Trekking Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

We really enjoyed this activity. We were picked up on time, with good communication from Gi Arta. He messaged early the night before to make the plan so we were ready for our 0220 collection and he explained what our day would look like. The hike with Coco was fantastic. It was a hard walk, very steep in places but he factored in as many breaks as we needed whilst still getting us to the top for sunrise and even carrying a bag for a member of the group who was feeling unwell. What a wonderful experience. Highly recommended! Tequila, my driver for the day, was so friendly and welcoming, he showed me all the sites of Bali and talked to me about local traditions and culture, and even hosted a karaoke session on our journey to the coffee plantation :) The hike up Mount Batur was lead by boring.. who is far from boring. Hehe! He made sure we made it up the mountain safely in time for the breathtaking views at sunrise. He is also amazing at content. If you want some stunning photos and videos, he is your man! We were lucky that the cloud cleared just in time. So grateful

Such a cool experience. A must do when visiting Bali. Our driver Agus was excellent, we were able to nap on the early morning drive there, and he was able to knowledgeably answer questions we had about the culture / area. Our guide Jase was also excellent, she helped my wife through difficult portions of the trail.
It was a very fun activity that started right on time with our driver Jro Wi. We had an amazing hike to see the mount batur sunrise, got to see the coffee plantation and try 14 unique flavours, and ended our adventure with the famous Bali swing. 10/10 would recommend this tour. The drive was very enjoyable and smooth and Jro made the whole experience better.

My trip was amazing! Mount batur Sunrise hike is worth it, there were guides along the entire path up making sure no one is left behind. The Bali swing is something else! The view is stunning and the swinging in the tropical Forrest is on a different level. They help you take wonderful pictures! My driver Ami is also fantastic, I did not have to go look for her, she picked me up from the lobby and when I came back from the mountain she was waiting for me at the car park, I didn’t have to go looking for her. Also fantastic driving!
