Sunrise Jeep Tour Mount Batur and Hot Spring (Private Tour) (Ubud)

This is a 3-hour experience from Ubud, built around Mount Batur, Black Lava and Coffee plantation. It is run by Batur Geopark, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Batur is an active volcano of 1,717 metres standing inside a much older caldera, with Lake Batur on the floor of it. Sunrise treks start from Toya Bungkah on the lake shore, climb for around two hours on volcanic sand and loose rock, and aim to be on the rim by about 5:30, since the sun comes up between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on the month, behind the cone of Mount Agung to the east. The summit before dawn is regularly 8 to 12°C with wind, so a real warm layer matters more than anything else you pack. Trekking is run through the local village association, which is why every tour, ours included, comes with a guide, and most mornings end at the hot springs on the lake shore. Jeep and ATV versions drive to a viewpoint on the flank of the volcano for the same sunrise and skip the climb, which is the right choice for knees, small children and anyone who did not sleep. In the wet season, November to March, the top is often inside cloud at dawn and there is no refund for weather.

The price covers Hotel Pick Up Area Kintamani, Ticket Batur Natural Hot Spring, Mineral Water, Driver and Petrol. It does not cover Pick Up Area and Tipping, so budget for those separately. Batur Geopark sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Batur Geopark before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.
