This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around BongkasaCar and Taman Beji Griya Waterfall. It is run by PT Trans Wisata Dewata, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Tirta Empul is a water temple on the Pakerisan river at Tampaksiring, founded in 962 AD around a spring the Balinese hold sacred. The purification ritual, melukat, means entering the pool and moving from spout to spout under the water in order; two of the spouts are reserved for funeral rites and are not used, and a guide will show you which. Sarongs are provided at the entrance, and you will want a change of clothes for afterwards. The temple is busiest with local worshippers around full moon and on Balinese holy days, which is worth knowing rather than avoiding. The presidential palace built by Sukarno in the 1950s stands on the hill directly above the springs.

We had a super friendly and kind driver. Esa drove us there, waited for us and brought us back with safe! At the Tempel we felt the magic straight away and had a beautiful, unique experience with a privat guide. Mangku guided us through every step with time and patience and we felt in best hands. The activity was more than I expected. A great, spiritual pause in a busy week of activities. It was well organised. Ketut organised the time perfectly, arrived without any problems and waited for us patiently. Would recommend asking for him for anyone thinking of going on this trip.

I had a beautiful experience at the water temple. The guide at the temple was very knowledgable and supportive, and my driver Dama was professional and courteous (he even took me through his village and taught me about Balinese family traditions). Highly recommended if you're looking for an authentic Balinese spiritual and cultural experience. Great value for the price. Get there early to avoid the lineups and crowds.
