Full description
This is a 2-hour experience from Ubud, built around Tegalalang. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
The Tegallalang terraces are twenty minutes north of Ubud on the road to Kintamani, and they are working paddies fed by the subak irrigation system that UNESCO listed in 2012. Before about 8:30 in the morning the valley belongs to the farmers, the paddies are still wet from the night, and it is cool enough to walk down through the terraces and up the far side. By ten the coaches from the south arrive and the road above the terraces becomes a line of cafes, swings and photo platforms. There is a small entry fee at the viewpoint, and farmers along the paths through the fields ask for a few thousand rupiah to cross their land, which is normal. The swings are separate businesses with their own prices.

overall I had a good experience. I did not know the swing and rice fields were two different stops. I enjoyed the complimentary coffee tasting at the swing attraction. then we went out to the rice field. our guide was patient and very hospital. Ari explained things in detial and also found some really nice photo spots for us.
I had a wonderful tour with Manu. Walking through the rice terrace fields early in the morning was such a special and refreshing experience. Manu was kind, respectful, and made me feel completely comfortable as a solo female traveller. He also helped me take some great photos, and we had great conversations on the road. My friends and I had a great day exploring the Kumulilir coffee plantation and Tegalalang rice terrace. Our tour guide walked us through the process of growing/processing both coffee and rice, showing us some of the traditional methods.
