This is a 8-hour experience in Ubud. It is run by Bali Bangli Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

The Tegallalang terraces are twenty minutes north of Ubud on the road to Kintamani, and they are working paddies fed by the subak irrigation system that UNESCO listed in 2012. Before about 8:30 in the morning the valley belongs to the farmers, the paddies are still wet from the night, and it is cool enough to walk down through the terraces and up the far side. By ten the coaches from the south arrive and the road above the terraces becomes a line of cafes, swings and photo platforms. There is a small entry fee at the viewpoint, and farmers along the paths through the fields ask for a few thousand rupiah to cross their land, which is normal. The swings are separate businesses with their own prices.

Der Guide war nett und konnte nichts dafür, aber die Tour an sich war leider enttäuschend. Die Auswahl der Orte ist meiner Meinung nach schlecht, da sie extrem touristisch und völlig überfüllt sind. Bei den Reisterrassen musste man zusätzlich etwa 80–90 € bezahlen, wenn man zu den bekannten Fotospots bzw. den schönen Instagram-Fotomotiven wollte. Der Tempel war ebenfalls komplett überlaufen. Wir standen etwa eine halbe Stunde für ein Ritual an, das durch die Menschenmassen für mich leider seinen eigentlichen Charme und seine Bedeutung verloren hat. Zum Schluss wurden wir außerdem zu einem ande
