Tirta Empul Purification and Coffee Tour in Ubud
Full description
This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Tirta Empul. It is run by Good Bali Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tirta Empul is a water temple on the Pakerisan river at Tampaksiring, founded in 962 AD around a spring the Balinese hold sacred. The purification ritual, melukat, means entering the pool and moving from spout to spout under the water in order; two of the spouts are reserved for funeral rites and are not used, and a guide will show you which. Sarongs are provided at the entrance, and you will want a change of clothes for afterwards. The temple is busiest with local worshippers around full moon and on Balinese holy days, which is worth knowing rather than avoiding. The presidential palace built by Sukarno in the 1950s stands on the hill directly above the springs.
The price covers Entrance ticket to Tirta Empul Temple, Traditional Balinese purification experience, Offering for the purification ceremony, English-speaking guide and Visit to a Balinese coffee plantation. It does not cover Personal expenses, Meals and drinks not mentioned in the inclusions, Gratuities for the guide or driver and Pickup and drop-off outside the designated meeting point at, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Ubud Palace. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Good Bali Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

The tour experience with Gede couldn't have been better; he was incredibly attentive and kind, explaining everything—from the hot springs to the coffee tour—and even helping us get to our next destination with no strings attached. We couldn't be more grateful to him. We’ll definitely be back in the future and would contact him again without hesitation—100 out of 100. Thanks, Gede—you're the best!
This tour is totally worth it! Gede is an awesome guide, super knowledgeable, kind, and always making sure we had a good experience. The Tirta Empul purification ritual is very interesting to know more about the local culture and religion. We also really enjoyed the coffee tour, where we were able to taste many different types of tea and coffee (including the famous Luwak coffee paying an additional fee, which was very reasonable). In addition, he also takes great pictures! 😃 And although this activity is new, the guide is local and has over 15yrs of experience with tourism in this region!
Nuestro chofer Gede Ha sido un crack, el mejor. Nos lo ha explicado todo perfecto y nos ha acompañado en todo momento. Muy amable, servicial y simpático. Sin duda un 10/10!
