Full description
This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Tirta Empul. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tirta Empul is a water temple on the Pakerisan river at Tampaksiring, founded in 962 AD around a spring the Balinese hold sacred. The purification ritual, melukat, means entering the pool and moving from spout to spout under the water in order; two of the spouts are reserved for funeral rites and are not used, and a guide will show you which. Sarongs are provided at the entrance, and you will want a change of clothes for afterwards. The temple is busiest with local worshippers around full moon and on Balinese holy days, which is worth knowing rather than avoiding. The presidential palace built by Sukarno in the 1950s stands on the hill directly above the springs.

This was a wonderful and unique experience. My guide, Karba John, was very knowledgeable and friendly and guided me through the process of purification in the spring waters. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in Hinduism, history or spirituality.
It's my birthday and doing the purification at Tirta Empul was the perfect way to celebrate. Tia, our guide, was exceptional. She made it easy to understand the ceremony, the stories. She was warm and approachable. She was the best guide I've had during my Ubud trip. It's easy to go along the ceremony bec of her guidance. The price is very cheap so it's good because more people can afford it.
I really enjoyed my time at Tirta Empul, thank you so much to Sandy for being such an amazing & knowledgeable guide! He made me feel so comfortable and explained in detail the history of the temple. We prayed together and he took some wonderful photos that I’ll treasure. He also gave me some great options for activities after the temple, the coffee tasting was amazing and so worth it. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough.
What an amazing experience. Right from the pick and drop our guide , Kar was extremely corteous and made sure we are comfortable. He explained every detail about the temple and ritual. The ritual in it’s own is a blissful experience, very peaceful and calms the mind and body. Must do when in Ubud!
I had an amazing experience on this tour! Being picked up at 7:00 AM was absolutely perfect because we arrived at the temple before the crowds. Sana is the best! We visited Tirta Empul together and join spiritual cleansing. Afterwards he brought us a coffee plantation facility. We saw the plants of coffee, herbs etc and tasted some coffee and tee types. It was at least ones in a life time experience. Thank you Sana!
