Full description
This is a 7-hour experience from Ubud, built around Sidemen Village, Tenganan and Tirta Gangga. It is run by Trip Gotik - Bali Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
East Bali is the quieter side of the island under Mount Agung. The Sidemen valley has rice terraces without the crowds of Tegallalang and a view straight up to the volcano; Tirta Gangga is a water palace built by the last raja of Karangasem in 1946, with stepping stones across a carp pond; Taman Ujung is the same family's earlier palace of 1919 on the coast. Besakih, the mother temple, is a complex of 23 temples at 1,000 metres on Agung's slope and needs a sarong and, since 2023, an official guide. Further round the coast, Amed has black-sand beaches and Tulamben has the USAT Liberty, a cargo ship torpedoed in 1942 and pushed into the sea by Agung's 1963 eruption, now a wreck dive and snorkel from the beach.
Pickup is offered from Bali and Sidemen; the exact spot and time are agreed with Trip Gotik - Bali Tours once the booking is confirmed, and the option you choose sets whether transport is included.
The price covers Transportation by air-conditioned van, Parking fees, Lunch, Guide and Bottle of mineral water. It does not cover Entrance tickets, Personal expenses and Tip, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

We had an excellent day exploring East of Bali. Popo was a great driver and took care of us. He is also very knowledgeable, sharing his insights about Balinese culture with us. It was the best trip I have ever attended. If you want to see real Bali, this is your call. We saw traditional Balinese living. Adi was my guide of today, he took around amazing and unique places explaining me the traditions, about the religions and about the way the locals take out the rice and salt. I highly recommend this tour, I had the best time with my guide and driver : Komang Juniarta and Budiarsa. They both are really kind and knowledeable. Take the early pick up to be alone in Tirta Gangga, it's surreal to be in this beautiful palace without the crowd. Plus, Juniarta (Jhoni) is a really good photographer and will be able to immortalize the moment for you ! The village of Teganan is a must-see for me as it captures the essence and spirit of Bali.
Our driver was accomodating and was able to make sure we had enough time in between from salt farms, explaining to us about each place, and taking us to local spot for photos in a local rice field area. The all day driving was very helpful to make sure we got our pictures taken and had enough time in between to see and explore during downtime.
