Full description
This is a 4-hour experience from Ubud, built around Traditional village and Pemulan Bali Village Experience. It is run by Pemulan Bali Farm Cooking School, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Balinese food is built on base genep, the island's spice paste, and eaten from warungs and night markets more than restaurants. Babi guling, spit-roast pig with crackling and spiced rice, is the dish the island is known for; nasi campur is rice with a spoonful of several things; sate lilit is minced meat on lemongrass; and lawar is the chopped salad that comes with most of it. Gianyar's night market opens at about 5:00 in the evening and is the best one near Ubud. Food tours stop at six to ten places for small portions, so arrive hungry, and tell the guide about chilli tolerance early, because Balinese sambal is not mild.
The price covers Coffee and/or tea, Air-conditioned vehicle, guide and Fruit and bottle of water. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Pura Dalem Puri Central Parking. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Pemulan Bali Farm Cooking School before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

We absolutely loved this experience. We paid to be picked up and dropped back at our hotel. From the minute you arrive the fun begins. Firstly picking vegetables fresh from their garden then cooking a delicious meal to enjoy. We then went to visit a traditional Balinese house which was fascinating to learn about how a family all live together. After we went to the rice fields to see the fireflies. Unfortunately due to heavy rain we only saw a few but it was still wonderful to see. Highly recommended doing this trip
We had such a wonderful time!! Our guides were absolutely wonderful. Beautiful farm, exceptional food and a really fun light hearted cooking class. We then toured a traditional multigenerational Bali home. Our host was so super sweet. What a great experience. From there we went to a rice field, ate fruit and released fire flies. Simple, and perfect evening. A Bali must!
Brilliant way to experience Ubud village life and culture. Made was an excellent host and so much fun
Made was a wonderful guide and has a lot of knowledge of the farm & the crops. The tour at his house was also very nice and gave me an impression how people live in Bali. And also seeing the fireflies at the end was a great experience!
Loved catching tons of fireflies!! What a great night
i loved it, very nice people, delicious food and such an amazing cooking instructor. thank you so much for this nice evening
Well organised. Takes about 40 mins to get there. Lovely views of Bali life on drive and well worth it. Hosts really lovely. Enjoyed dinner we prepared, visit to family home and seeing the fireflies was a highlight. For those of us who live in the city, the sound of the ricefields at night was amazing.
Renu (my guide) was so incredibly kind and helpful, he has an awesome sense of humour, and explained so much of Balinese culture and Hindu traditions. He went above and beyond and I felt very privileged that he showed me his home and I met some of his family. The firefly experience will forever be a core memory. I truly experienced childhood joy as an adult again. thankyou so much Renu!
This was amazing and the absolute highlight of my holiday. My guide was brilliant, really engaging, knowledgeable and funny. I was given a tour of the farm and village, and was really humbled by everyone's friendliness. The cooking class was so good (naturally because I made it 😉). But of course the main attraction exceeded all expectations. Having dinner and sitting in a field surrounded by twinkly fireflies was magical. This is something I will never forget
It was very interesting and good to see Balinese culture and cuisine.
Agus was very nice Guide he showed us the beautiful side of Bali and its Culture. The Cooking was also very funny and nice!
It was AWESOME. It was fascinating learning about Balinese lifestyle. The cooking class was so fun! We picked up vegetables from the farm and cooked with that. They also gave us a cookbook. The guide was very warm and informative. The fireflies were magical
