Full description
This is a 2-hour experience in Uluwatu. It is run by Ombak Ombak Surf School, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Surf lessons around Canggu happen on beach breaks, mostly at Batu Bolong and Berawa, where the sand bottom and slow, crumbling waves suit first days. Lessons run about two hours with a soft-top board and a short session on the sand first, and instructors push beginners into whitewater rather than waiting for green waves. Mornings before 9:00 are cleanest in the dry season, April to October, when the wind is offshore; the wet season brings bigger, messier surf and afternoon onshores. Rash vests are provided and reef shoes are not needed on these beaches. Book a second lesson only after the first; most people are standing by the end of it.
The price covers 2-hour surf lesson, Soft-top surfboard, Rash guard, Safety locker and Showers and changing rooms. It does not cover Food, Towel, Personal Expense and Insurance, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Ombak Ombak Surf School sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Ombak Ombak Surf School before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

This runs outdoors, so the operator can call it off for rain, wind or sea conditions, and that decision is usually made on the day. If they cancel, you choose: another date, or your money back in full. We do not keep a booking fee on a tour that did not run.

Surfing with Venus was an amazing experience. He has deep knowledge of the ocean and wave conditions, and you can really feel how well he reads the sea. His explanations are clear and calm, which makes you feel confident and safe in the water. Venus is patient, encouraging, and truly focused on helping you improve, not just standing on the board but understanding the ocean. We felt we got great value from the session and had a lot of fun. We’ll definitely come back to surf with Venus next time, highly recommended!
we had really good time learning surfing. the instructor was really accommodating and super patient with us. he has great knowledge, and we were able to stand up on the board many times as a beginner that was amazing experience. Will definitely go back again :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our surfing lesson with Venus (Venice? Spelling?). He is so positive, patient and encouraging. I've tried surfing numerous times before and never been able to actually "surf" until we went for lessons with him! His instructions were perfect and we had a fantastic afternoon riding the waves around beautiful Gerger beach. Thank you so much!

I went to 2 surf schools this one and RipCurl, Sadly no pickup/dropoff option here. I was probably unlucky since the waves conditions were horrible on nusa dua that day and I almost catched none so was I dragged away the whole time. The guy I was with offered other lessons directly after, where the beach was different and better conditions but I couldn’t go would’ve been nice. Also my Private lesson was then turned into a 2on1 which wasn’t pretty good and got irritated skin breast, hands and feet.. Overall I would guess just unlucky but a try worth
Unser Guide Venus hat uns in Trockenübungen hervorragend angeleitet so das dann die dritte Welle in der Praxis direkt geklappt hat. Wir waren eine kleine Gruppe so das die beiden Guides sich um jeden gut kümmern konnten. Es hat Mega Spaß gemacht und ich kann es nur empfehlen der in Nusa Dua Urlaub macht.
