Full description
This is a 2-hour experience in Uluwatu. It is run by Cakrawala asia, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Surf lessons around Canggu happen on beach breaks, mostly at Batu Bolong and Berawa, where the sand bottom and slow, crumbling waves suit first days. Lessons run about two hours with a soft-top board and a short session on the sand first, and instructors push beginners into whitewater rather than waiting for green waves. Mornings before 9:00 are cleanest in the dry season, April to October, when the wind is offshore; the wet season brings bigger, messier surf and afternoon onshores. Rash vests are provided and reef shoes are not needed on these beaches. Book a second lesson only after the first; most people are standing by the end of it.
The price covers 2-hour surf session, Private/semi-private lesson, Photos and videos included, Mineral water and Surf equipment. It does not cover Hotel drop-off, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Cakrawala asia sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Cakrawala asia before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Weather
This runs outdoors, so the operator can call it off for rain, wind or sea conditions, and that decision is usually made on the day. If they cancel, you choose: another date, or your money back in full. We do not keep a booking fee on a tour that did not run.

Bryan is an amazing surf instructor! I took three lessons with him, and every session was well organized, easy to follow, and a lot of fun. It was great! I had never surfed before but managed to get up in my first try and surfed to the shore in a few attempts. Adil was a super nice instructor, made me feel safe in a crowded area with a lot of surfers/learners and gave good feedback. Everyone in the team are friendly and helpful people, I got a lot of photos and videos by the end of the day. Wish I had more days in Uluwatu, I’d have definitely take more classes!

We had the best time surfing with our guide. Transportation from our hotel to the spot was easy, and our guide made the surfing experience fun and easy out in the water. This was my wife’s first time surfing and he got her up on her first wave. I’d surfed multiple times before this, and our guide was able to also coach me at a more intermediate level.
We had an amazing time with this surf school and couldn’t recommend it enough. The instructor was incredibly professional and patient with my daughters — he gave them fantastic guidance every step of the way, making sure they felt safe and confident while having a great time in the water. The spot they chose for the lesson was perfect — great conditions for beginners and a really lovely setting overall. The cherry on top: they gave us professional-quality photos and videos of the whole session afterward. Such a thoughtful touch and it meant we got to relive the whole experience — my daughters

The entire team took great care of us and regularly checked if everything was going well and if we felt comfortable continuing. They paid close attention to our fitness and skill levels, which made us feel very safe at all times. The instructors explained everything clearly beforehand and made sure we understood all important details before entering the water. They also chose the perfect surfboards for our level, which helped us improve and enjoy
This was my first time surfing and it was amazing. The instructor (Yasman) gave a really clear explanation before we went into the water, and because of that, I actually managed to catch a wave on my second try! The waves can be quite challenging, but the Yasman kept a close eye on me the whole time and made sure I felt safe. If you're looking for a great, reliable surfschool, this is the one. Definitely recommend booking with them!
