Full description
This is a 10-day experience from Hakone, built around Airport pick-up and Shinjuku evening, Toshogu's carved gates and Lake Chuzenji and Private transfer to the airport. It is run by OlaChill Travel & Technology, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Hakone is the hot-spring resort in the mountains 90 minutes south-west of Tokyo, inside the caldera of an old volcano. The standard loop is the Hakone Ropeway over the Owakudani sulphur vents, where eggs are boiled black in the springs, a boat across Lake Ashi past the red torii of Hakone Shrine, and, on a clear day, Fuji over the lake. Onsen bathing follows the usual rules: wash before entering, no swimwear, and many baths still refuse tattoos or ask for a cover. The Hakone Free Pass covers the trains, cable car, ropeway and boat; the ropeway closes in high wind and when volcanic gas rises, which happens a few days a year.
The price covers Private Toyota Alphard with an English-speaking driver for, Airport pick-up on arrival at Haneda or Narita, Private transfer back to the airport on the last day, All driving between Tokyo, Nikko, Kamakura, Enoshima and Lake Ashi cruise ticket. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Airport pick-up and Shinjuku evening
Your driver meets you at Haneda or Narita arrivals and takes you to your Tokyo hotel, your base for the next three nights. In the evening, a first dinner among the lantern-lit stalls of Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku and the free observatory at the Metropolitan Government Building for the city laid out in lights.
Senso-ji, the Skytree deck and a river cruise
Senso-ji in Asakusa before the crowds arrive, then the Nakamise shopping street and the kitchenware shops of Kappabashi. Lunch at Solamachi under Tokyo Skytree and up to the deck, then a Sumida river cruise down to the Hamarikyu garden for tea in the teahouse on the pond, and Ginza at dusk.
Harajuku, the Shibuya crossing and Zojo-ji
The forest approach to Meiji Shrine, then Takeshita-dori in Harajuku and the boutiques of Omotesando. Lunch in Shibuya, the famous crossing seen from above at Shibuya Sky, and the day ends at Zojo-ji with Tokyo Tower lit behind the temple gate.
Toshogu's carved gates and Lake Chuzenji
Two hours north into the mountains. Toshogu's carved gates, the sleeping cat and the Shinkyo bridge, then Rinno-ji. In the afternoon the car climbs the Irohazaka hairpins to Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. Dinner and an onsen bath at a Nikko or Chuzenji ryokan.
Hase-dera, Komachi-dori and the island shrine
Three hours south to the coast, with a lunch stop on the way. The Great Buddha at Kotoku-in, the hillside temple of Hase-dera and the shops of Komachi-dori. In the late afternoon, the shrine steps and sea caves of Enoshima with the sun going down over Sagami Bay.
Red Brick Warehouse, Yamashita Park, Sankeien
A day in Yokohama. The Red Brick Warehouse and Landmark Tower on the waterfront, the Cup Noodles Museum, lunch in Japan's largest Chinatown, then Yamashita Park on the water and the historic buildings of the Sankeien landscape garden before the harbour lights come on.
Hillside sculptures, sulphur valley, lake cruise
An hour west into Hakone. Sculptures on the hillside at the Open-Air Museum and the Picasso pavilion, then the steaming sulphur valley of Owakudani with its black eggs and, on a clear day, Fuji over the rim. The afternoon is the Lake Ashi cruise and the torii standing in the water at Hakone Shrine, then kaiseki and an onsen at your ryokan.
400 steps to the pagoda view, then the lake
Ninety minutes to Fujiyoshida and the 400 steps up to Chureito Pagoda, where the pagoda and Mt. Fuji line up together and the view is clearest in the morning. Hoto noodles for lunch at Lake Kawaguchiko, the flower beds of Oishi Park, the Kachi Kachi ropeway, and a hot-spring bath with the mountain in the window.
Spring ponds, outlet shopping, farewell dinner
The eight spring-fed ponds and thatched houses of Oshino Hakkai at the foot of Fuji, then lunch and last shopping at Gotemba Premium Outlets with the mountain behind the roofs. Two hours back to Tokyo, and a final evening in Ginza or Akihabara with a farewell dinner.
