Full description

This is a 5-day experience from Hiroshima, built around Kansai pickup and Dotonbori, Himeji Castle and Kurashiki and Peace Park and Miyajima ferry. It is run by OlaChill Travel & Technology, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

The day trips out of Osaka each have one reason. Himeji has Japan's finest surviving castle, the White Heron, an original of 1609 with six floors of wooden interior, its plaster re-whitened in a restoration completed in 2015; the climb to the top keep is steep and the queue at cherry-blossom time is long. Kobe has the beef, sold by grade at counters where you watch it cooked, and the harbour. Koyasan, two hours south, is the mountain monastery town founded by Kukai in 816, where 117 temples sit in a cedar forest and Okunoin cemetery is the largest in Japan; a night in a shukubo temple lodging with vegetarian shojin ryori is the reason to go.

The price covers 4 nights accommodation: hand-picked hotels in Osaka and, Private vehicle with driver for all 5 days, guide throughout the tour, Kansai Airport pickup on arrival and drop-off on departure and All transfers between Osaka, Himeji, Kurashiki, Hiroshima. It does not cover Lunch and dinner unless stated in the itinerary, Admission tickets to Himeji Castle, Koko-en, Mount Misen ropeway ticket and Personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Your driver and guide meet your flight at Kansai Airport around 14:00 and drive you to the hotel in Namba — about an hour. From 18:00 you walk into Dotonbori. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with OlaChill Travel & Technology before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Tour Itinerary

Itineraries are customisable as per your request

The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

Kansai pickup and Dotonbori

Your driver and guide meet your flight at Kansai Airport around 14:00 and drive you to the hotel in Namba — about an hour. From 18:00 you walk into Dotonbori: takoyaki from a street window, okonomiyaki cooked on the iron plate in front of you, and the neon reflected on the canal.

Himeji Castle and Kurashiki

An hour west to Himeji for opening time. The white heron castle survived the war intact, so the keep you climb is the original — steep wooden ladders, dark timber, arrow slits — with Koko-en’s nine walled gardens next door. Afternoon in Kurashiki: willows on the canal, white storehouses, the Ohara Museum and a flat-bottomed boat.

Peace Park and Miyajima ferry

Hiroshima from 09:00. The A-Bomb Dome, the museum and the cenotaph, taken at whatever pace you need. Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki for lunch, layered rather than mixed. The ferry across to Miyajima at 14:30, so you are on the island as the day crowds leave and the torii stands in the water. Night in a ryokan.

Miyajima and Kobe

Miyajima is quiet in the morning: the 500 steps of Daisho-in, or the ropeway up Mount Misen, or just the deer and the momiji-manju shops. Back on the mainland by 12:30 and east along the coast, with a stop in Kobe for beef and the Kitano hillside of old foreign houses. Into Osaka for the evening.

Osaka morning and airport

A last morning shaped by your flight time: Osaka Castle and its park, or Kuromon Market for uni, scallops and grilled crab. Then a private transfer to Kansai International Airport, about an hour from central Osaka, luggage carried to the terminal door.

Late March to early April for cherry blossom (2026 full bloom landed around March 29-31), or October-November for autumn color and oyster season. August 6 brings the Peace Memorial Ceremony — moving, but the city is at its most crowded. See our best time to visit Hiroshima guide.
The Hiroden streetcar (flat ¥240) covers most sights, and the meipuru-pu loop bus is free with a JR Pass. Miyajima is a ¥200 ferry ride plus the ¥100 visitor tax. Full fares and passes in getting around Hiroshima.
Two days is the sweet spot: day one for the Peace Memorial Park, Museum and city, day two for Miyajima Island. Our 2-day Hiroshima itinerary maps it hour by hour.
Plan 2-3 hours for the park and museum together — the museum is just ¥200 and opens from 7:30 AM. Etiquette, monuments, and timing tips are in our Peace Memorial Park guide.
The torii appears to float at tide levels above ~250cm, and you can walk out to its base below ~100cm — a single day often offers both. Check tide tables before you go; the full trick is in our Miyajima Island guide.
Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki — layered, not mixed like Osaka's, with soba inside — plus winter oysters and momiji manju on Miyajima. Okonomimura's 24 stalls are the classic first stop. See the Hiroshima food guide.
Miyajima is the essential one; beyond it, Iwakuni's Kintai Bridge and Okunoshima (Rabbit Island) are both doable by train. Honest rankings and logistics in our Hiroshima day trips guide.
