Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park sits on the ground beneath the point where the bomb detonated at 8:15 on 6 August 1945. The A-Bomb Dome, the skeleton of the industrial promotion hall, was left as it stood; the Peace Memorial Museum reopened in 2019 after a redesign and takes about two hours, and is not for young children. The Children's Peace Monument is hung with paper cranes sent from around the world. Hiroshima's own food is okonomiyaki layered with noodles, eaten at counters in Okonomimura. Miyajima is 40 minutes away and most visitors combine the two in one day.
The price covers Guided sake tasting tour, Visit to multiple sake breweries in Saijo, Hiroshima, Opportunity to learn about sake brewing processes and Tasting of various sake types with unique flavors. We had an excellent time with Gordon on our tour. The town was perfect for strolling and exploring sake breweries. We learned so much and all of the sake was very tasty!
Masa speaks good English, studies the sake industry, and provides a delightful tour. I don’t know that I’ve ever paid for a tour, but this was a decision for us.
Our guide Gordon was wonderful. He gave us so much information regarding sake. We enjoyed all our tastings, didn’t think I would like sake but ended up loving it!!! Even bought some to take home!! Gordon was kind and catered to our needs. Highly recommend this tour!!
Our guide Kiyoshi was so knowledgeable about the area as well as the history and process for Sake brewing. We visited the museum first and watched a short video before being able to walk around the displays to look at the process for brewing. We theb visited the breweries in the area themselves and we're able to sample a variety of sakes from different brewers with different flavours. This was a great activity to do from Hiroshima and despite the wet weather we thoroughly enjoyed it. Kiyoshi was informative and allowed us time to enjoy the Sake without feeling rushed even though we fell behind
Gordon was a great guide. We can highly recommend the Sake tasting tour and Gordon as a guide. He was very helpful and knowledgeable! Superb experience! Thx, Eric
This was a great tour and a lot of fun and we tasted a lot of different sakes. Emiko was very nice and knowledgeable, I highly recommend this tour!
A great tour and great experience. My husband and I had a great time with Gordon and even stayed a bit longer for more conversation and more sake. Gordon met us at the station and explained what we'd be doing and from then the 2 hrs flew by. We had a great chat and we were taught a lot about sake, the process, the variety, the traditions and about life in Japan generally. There was not too much walking and there was a healthy amount of sake to enjoy. We even bought a couple of bottles from the breweries. We ended up having a really nice chat with Gordon at the end about the area and our trip w
Fabulous relaxed tour with just two of us on the tour, which made it really special. Our guide (Gordon) was knowledgeable and personable. He certainly knew his way around the sake district in Saijo, and took us to breweries we had not even noticed, even though we are staying in Saijo, and walk these streets every day. By the end, we did not just have a tour guide. We had made a friend. The very special added touch was that Gordon was actually from the city we lived in, in Canada, so there was much to talk about! We would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Gord!
our guide had a good knowledge of Sake and thr processes involved. Great tour.
I was the only one on the tour on a drizzly Tuesday but Gordon was prepared. I had a great time learning about sake in depth and trying a wide variety of types from different breweries. The staff at each brewery were full of character and friendly. I liked the personal touch of homemade pickle as a post tour snack. It's well worth the trip out to Saijo, I would highly recommend it 🫰✌️
Gordon was fanastic! Great guide and very informative, we had the best time!
Our guide was Emiko. A lovely lady. She spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable and helpful, even giving us advice on other areas to visit on our trip. We received nice messages from her both before and after our tour. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Emiko!
