Full description
This is a 8-hour experience in Hiroshima. It is run by Japan Guide Agency, JGA Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park sits on the ground beneath the point where the bomb detonated at 8:15 on 6 August 1945. The A-Bomb Dome, the skeleton of the industrial promotion hall, was left as it stood; the Peace Memorial Museum reopened in 2019 after a redesign and takes about two hours, and is not for young children. The Children's Peace Monument is hung with paper cranes sent from around the world. Hiroshima's own food is okonomiyaki layered with noodles, eaten at counters in Okonomimura. Miyajima is 40 minutes away and most visitors combine the two in one day.

Last weekend we had a full day with Kazuhisa To exploring Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. To was great with communication leading up to the day and made us feel very comfortable with a full itinerary provided before we arrived. The day was well thought out and covered everything we wanted to see in the area. To was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his city and its history. Akie was an amazing guide. Our tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima was EXACTLY what we wanted. She met us right as we got off our train, and made sure our day covered every aspect of what we wanted to see. She knew all the ins and outs of where to go when so we could optimize our visits. She provided loads of interesting information about Itsukushima Shrine, made sure we could see it at high tide and lower tide (so cool). She made sure we saw places in Hiroshima that we would have definitely missed had we gone alone. We couldn't have had a better time.
