Full description
This is a 2.5-hour experience in Hiroshima, built around Hiroshima Castle, HIROSHIMA GATE PARK and Atomic Bomb Dome. It is run by Localized Walking, Bike & Food Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park sits on the ground beneath the point where the bomb detonated at 8:15 on 6 August 1945. The A-Bomb Dome, the skeleton of the industrial promotion hall, was left as it stood; the Peace Memorial Museum reopened in 2019 after a redesign and takes about two hours, and is not for young children. The Children's Peace Monument is hung with paper cranes sent from around the world. Hiroshima's own food is okonomiyaki layered with noodles, eaten at counters in Okonomimura. Miyajima is 40 minutes away and most visitors combine the two in one day.
The price covers Guided tour. It does not cover Tip to the guide, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Localized Walking, Bike & Food Tours before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
There is no cost to roam the Shrine or Temple, as well as Peace Park and the many structures there. Entry to the museum is a mere 2000 yen. However, this tour is worth every penny and you get so much more out of the visit when you have a knowledgeable guide who provides insights into the traditions of the Japanese people, as well as context to what you see before you. We were so grateful to meet Kevin who moved from America to make Hiroshima his home. He was respectful and insightful as he told the story behind the events that befell Hiroshima 81 yrs ago. He chose his words thoughtfully and hi
What a powerful and insightful tour! Kevin shared so much and was so knowledgeable! Plus he shared a great local lunch location that had amazing Hiroshima Okonomiyaki.
Our guide Emi was fantastic! Really a very interesting tour with a lot of background information. Thank you very much Emi!
Sobering but absolutely worth it. Thomas was a wealth of knowledge. He was appropriately sombre at times and enjoyably humorous when moments allowed for it. I am in a wheelchair, and Thomas made sure that I was able to access everything.
It was excellent. Amy took her time and explained where we were and what we were doing and went into the history of why Hiroshima was targetted for the A bomb. She had handouts explaining the decisions leading up to ultimately Japan declaring war in 1941 and how the govt did or didnt keep the population updated. We vidited the dome and peace garden and building where the nearest survivor to the bomb was. Nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend this tour
Our guide was amazing, he spoke well and has a real passion for Hiroshima, nice pace and easy to follow, I would definitely recommend this tour.
We loved our tour with Thomas, it was in fact one of our japan highlights he was amazing and gave very good context also the pace of the visit was great with breaks and all. Thank you so much Thomas!
Informative and entertaining tour. Our guide gave us lots of history and presented it in an easy to digest and understand way. He also provided lots of interesting and entertaining information about other Japanese customs. Highly recommend.
