Full description

This is a 1.5-hour experience in Hiroshima. It is run by sketch, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park sits on the ground beneath the point where the bomb detonated at 8:15 on 6 August 1945. The A-Bomb Dome, the skeleton of the industrial promotion hall, was left as it stood; the Peace Memorial Museum reopened in 2019 after a redesign and takes about two hours, and is not for young children. The Children's Peace Monument is hung with paper cranes sent from around the world. Hiroshima's own food is okonomiyaki layered with noodles, eaten at counters in Okonomimura. Miyajima is 40 minutes away and most visitors combine the two in one day.

The price covers Hands-on calligraphy experience, Guidance from an experienced instructor, Practice materials provided, A memorable Japanese cultural experience and A handmade calligraphy souvenir. It does not cover Meals and drinks and Transportation to the venue, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

The activity was very interesting and we had a lot of fun. The teacher is super nice. We could choose from a series of words to try to write, and at the end she translated our names to Japanese, we wrote them and could take them home. I surely recommend it!

The teacher did not speak English, she used the translator to explain the activity. it was limited conversation between the teacher and the students.

Danke.
