Full description

This is a 5.5-hour experience from Hiroshima, built around Itsukushima Shrine, Cable car and Senjokaku Pavilion. It is run by DeepExperience, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Miyajima, properly Itsukushima, is the island in Hiroshima Bay whose shrine stands on stilts over the water with its great torii gate in the sea, rebuilt in 1875 and restored in 2022. The gate is walked to at low tide and floats at high tide, and the tide table decides what you see; both are worth it. Deer roam the village, the ropeway climbs Mount Misen for the view over the Inland Sea, and the local foods are grilled oysters and momiji manju maple cakes. From Hiroshima it is a tram or train to Miyajimaguchi and a ten-minute ferry, about 40 minutes in all, or a direct boat from the Peace Park.

Bright blue day with startling beautiful sea and forests then the Shrine. Couldn't be better and with a wonderful guide in Hine - thank you for being so helpful especially helping my wife who had recently fell and was walking with some difficulty. You made this day extra special and your quiet tea house for lunch was incredible away from the many tourists. Sayonara Hiroshima what a special city for do many reason set in such a wonderful setting.

My guide was Gordon Michasiw. I had a most informative trip, not just on Miyajima’s numerous sights and its history but on many aspects of Japanese life, culture and customs too. It was like taking a tour with a very informed friend. I can highly recommend Gordon to anybody who wants an experience that is more than superficial. Well-spent time with Gordon.

Es war eine super Tour mit wunderbarer Aussicht und einem super netten guide. Die Tour kann ich jedem empfehlen ist aber etwas anstrengend den Berg zu erklimmen(ca. 30 min. Zu Fuß)
