Full description

This is a 4-hour experience in Hiroshima, built around Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. It is run by Cornwall Ltd, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park sits on the ground beneath the point where the bomb detonated at 8:15 on 6 August 1945. The A-Bomb Dome, the skeleton of the industrial promotion hall, was left as it stood; the Peace Memorial Museum reopened in 2019 after a redesign and takes about two hours, and is not for young children. The Children's Peace Monument is hung with paper cranes sent from around the world. Hiroshima's own food is okonomiyaki layered with noodles, eaten at counters in Okonomimura. Miyajima is 40 minutes away and most visitors combine the two in one day.

The price covers Private English-speaking guide, Admission to the Peace Memorial Museum and Admission to Shukkeien Garden. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Hiroshima Orizuru Tower. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Cornwall Ltd before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Nancy is a great guide. We enjoyed everything about the tour. Although Hiroshima Castle itself was closed, the ground were open so we were still able to take pictures.

Hiro was a fantastic guide that showed us around Hiroshima. Knew a lot and took us to many places we would have never seen without doing the tour. Would highly recommend him and the tour. Even took us to lunch as well.

This was a very good tour and our guide, Chiro, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and allowed us plenty of time to enjoy the sights without feeling rushed. I would recommend this tour to every visitor to Hiroshima.

Nancy hat uns sehr einfühlsam in die Geschichte des Friedenparks eingeführt, und mit einer lokalen Spezialität überrascht und uns die Burg und den schönen Garten gezeigt. Viele Dank für die schöne Tour.

Nancy was very loverly but hardly said a word and did not seem very knowledgeable We asked a couple of questions the should have been simple answers and she didn’t know, we had to google them Where is the epicentre and what height did the bomb drop Honestly, we could have just gone to the museum and castle ourselves, didn’t need to spend £75 on a guide for that However, the lunch time menu, was helpful as we would not have been aware the d the local dish

The tour was changed at the last minute to include Miyajima . The guide was both knowledgeable and informative. We enjoyed our time on the island and at the Peace dome and museum.

Late March to early April for cherry blossom (2026 full bloom landed around March 29-31), or October-November for autumn color and oyster season. August 6 brings the Peace Memorial Ceremony — moving, but the city is at its most crowded. See our best time to visit Hiroshima guide.
The Hiroden streetcar (flat ¥240) covers most sights, and the meipuru-pu loop bus is free with a JR Pass. Miyajima is a ¥200 ferry ride plus the ¥100 visitor tax. Full fares and passes in getting around Hiroshima.
Two days is the sweet spot: day one for the Peace Memorial Park, Museum and city, day two for Miyajima Island. Our 2-day Hiroshima itinerary maps it hour by hour.
Plan 2-3 hours for the park and museum together — the museum is just ¥200 and opens from 7:30 AM. Etiquette, monuments, and timing tips are in our Peace Memorial Park guide.
The torii appears to float at tide levels above ~250cm, and you can walk out to its base below ~100cm — a single day often offers both. Check tide tables before you go; the full trick is in our Miyajima Island guide.
Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki — layered, not mixed like Osaka's, with soba inside — plus winter oysters and momiji manju on Miyajima. Okonomimura's 24 stalls are the classic first stop. See the Hiroshima food guide.
Miyajima is the essential one; beyond it, Iwakuni's Kintai Bridge and Okunoshima (Rabbit Island) are both doable by train. Honest rankings and logistics in our Hiroshima day trips guide.
